Treating Venous Conditions Vein & Skin Studio specializes in treatments and services for patients suffering from varicose and spider veins along with other cosmetic concerns. Vein and Skin Studio will help you to achieve optimal results through our state-of-the-art facility and non-surgical treatment plans. Varicose veins are enlarged veins that are near the surface of the skin that are bulging and twisting. They are found in the legs, and mostly pose a serious medical and cosmetic concern. They are caused by the weakening of valves in the veins leading to the slower of blood flow. When this happens, blood collects and creates pressure build up in the vein, often causing pain, swelling, itching, skin discoloration, and burning. The end result is the bulging and twisting varicose vein. Spider veins are smaller veins that appear in blue, red, or purple squiggles, resembling a spider or web. Spider veins can be known to cause symptoms such as aching, heaviness, itching, and cramping. Spider veins can be caused by pregnancy, hormonal factors, weight gain, and may be hereditary. Cutting-edge medical advances have helped make restoring adequate venous blood flow far safer and effective. Similar breakthroughs have been made in the treatment of varicose veins and spider veins. The treatment that is best for you depends on the following factors: Type of veins ( varicose or spider) Size of the veins Skin texture and color Location of affected veins Concentration and severity of veins These factors are diagnosed using a number of non-invasive tests that take place in our office. Diagnostic and physical exams guide us in selecting the appropriate treatment method. What Causes Vein Disease? In a healthy person, the veins transport blood back to the heart to receive oxygen. For those with vein disease, tiny valves in the veins that normally block the backflow of blood will fail. The result is that blood does not return to the heart as efficiently, but instead pools in the lower extremities. In time, there is a buildup of pressure, and veins grow enlarged and bulge near the surface of the skin. This can lead to the development of varicose veins from the ankle to the groin. Vein disease is a common condition for many people. There are an estimated 80 million people in the U.S. who are suffering from some type of vein disorder. This condition requires treatment because it may indicate a serious underlying condition and may lead to very dangerous medical complications. The best outcome occurs when vein disease is diagnosed and treated early on. What are the Causes of Vein Diseases? The causes of vein disease include: Genetic or (hereditary) predisposition – most frequent cause Pregnancy Gender — women are much more likely to have abnormal veins in their legs Obesity Sitting or standing for long periods What are the Symptoms of Vein Disease? The symptoms of vein disease include: The appearance of bulging, ropey veins Pain in the legs, including throbbing and aching Leg fatigue and heaviness Itching, burning, skin darkening (discoloration) Cramping Wounds that are slow to heal Skin rash, tender areas, or abnormal pigmentation Spider Vein Treatment Spider veins have a distinct spider web appearance and a red or blue color. They tend to be smaller than normal varicose veins, but can be darker and more apparent. Spider veins usually occur without accompanying symptoms can sometimes be painful, but can nonetheless indicate an underlying vein disease. Vein and Skin Studio provides these treatments for the elimination of spider veins: Veinwave™ Injection Sclerotherapy Varicose Vein Treatment Varicose veins are tiny normal blood vessels which have broken or malfunctioning valves that can become large and swollen. They sometimes appear bluish in color, and are raised over the skin’s surface. They may appear as bulging, twisted cords. Vein and Skin Studio provides these treatments to combat unsightly and unhealthy varicose veins: VenaCure EVLT™ (Laser Ablation) Sclerotherapy Venous Ulcer Treatment Ambulatory Phlebectomy Vein disease symptoms treated at Vein and Skin Studio are: Bleeding from Legs Darkening of the Skin Leg Swelling or Leg Pain Restless Leg Syndrome Leg Ulcers Itching & Burning Spider Veins Varicose Veins Venous Reflux Varicose Vein Prevention Your Consultation with Dr. Moszczynski Dr. Moszczynski will discuss your treatment options with you during your consultation. This is when you can express your concerns and ask questions about your upcoming procedure. The entire process will be thoroughly explained to you so that you know what to expect when the time comes.

What is Sclerotherapy? Sclerotherapy is an injectable solution for varicose veins that is highly effective at sealing them shut. Varicose veins are enlarged veins that can appear bright blue, purple or red. These types of veins commonly occur in the legs and face, and can be removed safely because the venous system does not depend on them to function properly. Sclerotherapy injections deliver good cosmetic results, and in 85 percent of cases, the treatment also relieves discomfort pain symptoms. Since it is an injection-based procedure, it is easy for Dr. Moszczynski to perform sclerotherapy in the office. The injections are safe, and cause only mild discomfort for a majority of patients. Depending on your condition and the results that you seek, you could need two to six sclerotherapy injections to achieve the best outcome. It usually takes less than 30 minutes for Dr. Moszczynski to complete each treatment. There is practically no downtime required following sclerotherapy treatments. Patients are encouraged to go about their normal activities, as healthy circulation promotes recovery. How Does Sclerotherapy Work? The first thing that Dr. Moszczynski and his team will do is to clean the skin at the target area with an antiseptic solution. He will then stretch the skin and administer the sclerosing solution into the varicose veins, using one injection every inch. The number of injections varies, but each treatment usually involves between five and 40 injections. After making the injections, Dr. Moszczynski will put compression tape over the treatment area. How Many Treatments are Required? Several sessions are typically needed for optimum results, but you are likely to benefit from just one session of sclerotherapy. The varicose veins will be totally eliminated with this procedure. Is Sclerotherapy Safe? Sclerotherapy is safe, and it is very rare for patients to suffer complications. Will There be any Downtime? There is little downtime required following sclerotherapy. We will provide you with support hose to place over the bandages to ensure that you heal properly. We also encourage walking in order to avoid the development of blood clots. You should also avoid: Standing, sitting, or squatting for long periods of time Strenuous exercise such as jogging Lifting heavy items What can I Expect After a Sclerotherapy Treatment? You will see a remarkable difference between the untreated and treated varicose veins. Your skin will appear clearer, younger and healthier. How Soon Will Results Appear After a Sclerotherapy Treatment? You will quickly see a dramatic change in your skin. When you remove the compression tape, the area will probably be bruised, and the injection sites will likely be reddish. It takes a little time for the bruises to diminish. There is sometimes a brownish discoloration that could take a while to fade entirely. How Long Does Sclerotherapy Last? The procedure will permanently destroy the varicose veins that were treated. However, it will not affect new veins that appear and grow over time. Who Should Avoid Sclerotherapy? This treatment might not be approved for people who have blood-borne diseases, circulation problems, diabetes, heart conditions or hepatitis. How Does Sclerotherapy Treatment Feel? You might feel some discomfort during the sclerotherapy treatment. The sclerosing solution is administered with a needle, and multiple injections are performed. You could feel a slight burning sensation during the injections, but this is temporary and fades within minutes. How to Prepare for Sclerotherapy? It is advised that you wash your legs thoroughly before the treatment and refrain from using lotion, moisturizer, oils or sunscreen. If possible, schedule the treatment for a time when the weather is relatively cooler. That way, you can wear long pants for a few weeks afterwards to hide the bruising that could appear. Recovery after Sclerotherapy You will be required to wear the compression tape and support hose for a few days after receiving sclerotherapy injections. It is recommended that you walk after the treatment to prevent blood clotting. However, you should avoid jarring exercises such as jogging until at least one month before your second treatment session begins. How Much Does Sclerotherapy Treatment Cost? Since we offer personalized treatment plans to all our patients, your cost for sclerotherapy will different from that of anyone else’s. Many health insurance plans cover all or part of the cost of sclerotherapy when it is medically necessary. We accept cash, personal checks, and major credit cards, and also encourage our patients to apply for CareCredit® financing to help them better afford treatment.

What is Veinwave™? Veinwave™ is a cutting-edge technology that utilizes thermo-coagulation to eliminate spider veins, hemangiomas, and telangiectasia that display as negative facial focal points. Developed by vascular surgeons, Veinwave™ can eliminate tiny veins that sclerotherapy cannot treat. Veinwave™ uses thermo-coagulation, which heats and closes tiny blood vessels immediately. The procedure takes under 15 minutes to perform, resulting in no downtime. Who makes a Good Candidate for Veinwave™ Therapy? You may be a good candidate for Veinwave™ therapy if you are an adult who: Is in good health Desires a quick and easy treatment Has unsightly spider veins on the face that you would like to eliminate What Areas do Veinwave™ Help? Veinwave™ works best for people who have unsightly spider veins appearing on sensitive locations of the face where other treatments have failed. Facial areas that can be treated include: Nose Cheeks Skin surrounding the eyes Lip area Who Does Not Make a Good Candidate for Veinwave™? Veinwave™ is not recommended for those who: Are epileptic Have bleeding disorders Are pregnant Have pacemakers How is Veinwave™ Treatment Performed? Veinwave™ utilizes a collection of technologies to eliminate problem veins. The process makes the blood vessels heat up to the degree that they effectively collapse. This process can be thought of as similar to sucking on a drinking straw until the sides fold inward. First, the treatment area is cleansed thoroughly. Dr. Moszczynski will then insert a very fine needle to administer the treatment beneath the skin’s surface without puncturing the actual blood vessel. This allows tiny blood vessels to be eliminated quickly. Procedures normally last no longer than 15 minutes, and no bandages are needed. Does Veinwave™ Treat Rosacea? Veinwave™ has been used outside the U.S. for the treatment of rosacea, but has not been approved by the FDA for such use. European doctors have found that Veinwave™ is highly effective at removing rosacea symptoms without curing the condition. The number of treatments required is dependent upon the severity of the disease. Is Veinwave™ Treatment Painful? Very little discomfort is to be expected during a Veinwave™ treatment. This is because a very fine needle is used. Most patients experience nothing more than a brief pinprick sensation. What can I Expect When Recovering from Veinwave™ Treatment? You can expect no downtime whatsoever after your Veinwave™ treatment. Patients are able to resume their daily activities immediately. No bandages are necessary. When will I Notice Results from Veinwave™ Treatment? You should start seeing results immediately after your Veinwave™ treatment as the unsightly veins begin closing and disappearing. You should continue seeing more results over the course of the next few days. What Long-Term Results Can I Expect from Veinwave™? Veinwave™ treatment for spider veins has permanent results. You will no longer be bothered by these unsightly veins after your treatment. How Many Sessions are Needed for A Successful Veinwave™ Treatment? Many people require only one treatment while others may need up to three treatments for ideal results. When Can I Return to Work After my Veinwave™ Treatment? You can expect to return to work immediately following your Veinwave™ procedure. How Does the Treated Area Appear Following Treatment? After treatment, most vessels completely disappear. Some people experience something that looks like a mild “cat scratch”, with pinkness that fades quickly. Any tiny scabs that are evident will also resolve themselves over the course of several days. Sometimes, the skin may appear temporarily darker following the treatment. This will also resolve itself similar to how a bruise fades. Patients who are prone to strong flushing or histamine allergic reactions may require a topical steroid. After Treatment, can the Vein Return? When properly treated, the body removes unwanted debris, and it will fade like a bruise. Your metabolism, overall health, and other factors will determine the length of this process. Although the problem vessels disappear, this does not mean new ones will not form. Why is Veinwave™ Superior to Other Types of Procedures? Veinwave™ has numerous advantages over other types of procedures that treat telangiectasia and spider veins, including: No bruising Less pain No downtime Extremely safe Able to treat areas such as the face, ankles, and knees Faster than other treatments Is Veinwave™ treatment approved for use in the U.S.? Veinwave™ has been used for a number of years in Europe, and was recently approved by the FDA for use in the U.S.

Aesthetic issues such as sagging skin, lack of facial skin volume, wrinkles, and fine lines used to require plastic surgery to repair. However, due to the availability of injectable dermal fillers, that’s no longer necessary in most cases. Dr. Zbigniew Moszczynski, a board-certified physician in phlebology and general surgery at the Vein and Skin Studio in New Jersey, offers residents in Bayonne and the surrounding areas a wide array of injectable dermal fillers to solve these common problems. What are Injectable Fillers? Injectable fillers provide a minimally-invasive alternative for rejuvenating the face and smoothing the appearance of wrinkles and lines. The results can last as long as one year, depending on the type of injectable filler used. In addition, these fillers can even provide results much like those seen with cosmetic surgery, although they are temporary. Because injectable fillers are minimally invasive, your daily routine won’t be disrupted by inconvenient recovery times. Healing takes little time, and most people are able to go back to work, school or other activities very quickly after these treatments. Injectable Fillers Benefits Treatment with injectable dermal fillers often takes less than one hour, and no downtime is needed. Some people may need several applications, but in any case, you will see some results after just one session. Injectable dermal fillers offer benefits such as: No pre-testing required The results are long lasting and immediately seen In most cases, patients can continue their normal routines right away What Kinds of Dermal Fillers and Injectables are Available? The fillers offered by the Vein and Skin Studio help to improve age-related skin damage in certain areas of the face. Dr. Moszczynski will draw on his considerable experience and expertise to select the dermal filler that best fits your needs. The different types of dermal fillers we offer include: Juvederm® Restylane® Radiesse® Voluma™ Injectable Fillers Treatment Process Dr. Moszczynski injects the dermal filler into areas of your face where lines and wrinkles are most prevalent. To treat fine lines, the filler must be injected into the outer layers of the skin, and for deep wrinkles, it must be injected into the lower layers. To achieve this, Dr. Moszczynski uses a thin needle. Patients should expect the injections to sting mildly, but most find the discomfort tolerable enough that anesthetic is not needed. Injectable Fillers Preparation No special preparations are required prior to your treatment. All that is needed is for you to set aside approximately one hour out of the day. Injectable Fillers Recovery Treatments with injectable dermal fillers are fast, easy and almost painless. Rarely, patients may develop tenderness, swelling and bruising on or around the injection locations. No rest period is needed after these treatments, and you can resume your normal routine right away. How Much Does the Injectable Fillers Treatment Cost? Injectable filler costs vary, depending on the needs of each patient. Since this is an elective treatment, it is not normally covered by health insurance. For this reason, Dr. Moszczynski takes personal checks, major credit cards, and cash. We also offer financing via CareCredit® for all dermal fillers and injectables. Am I a Good Candidate for Injectable Fillers? Before you set up your one-on-one consultation, you’re encouraged to make a note of your skin condition. If you display any of these signs of skin damage, you might be a good candidate for injectable dermal fillers: Wrinkles or lines anywhere on your face Noticeable frown and smile lines Deep creases that go from your nose to your mouth corners Lips that are thin or sagging Acne scarring Perioral or vertical lines above your lip, which are also called smoker’s lines What to Expect During Your Injectable Fillers Consultation At your consultation with Dr. Moszczynski, he will evaluate the condition of your skin, and address your questions or concerns. He will then recommend a course of treatment to help you improve the way you look and feel. Each treatment is tailored to your particular aesthetic goals. A skin lesion is frequently removed when a person is worried it might be cancerous, or if it causes aesthetic problems. Dr. Zbigniew Moszczynski, a board-certified surgeon in general surgery and phlebology at the Vein and Skin Studio, regularly removes such lesions for patients living in Bayonne and nearby areas in New Jersey. What is Skin Lesion Removal? Skin lesions are growths on the skin, such as pustules, skin tags, scars, and scales. Certain lesions can be malignant (cancerous), and others may be benign (harmless). Others may be benign but later become malignant. With any lesion, it’s essential to determine what type of lesion it is and what caused it. For moles or similar types of lesions, patients typically opt for removal in order to discover if it is cancerous or may become cancerous. In some cases, they may simply be removed for aesthetic purposes. Benefits of Skin Lesion Removal Regardless of what condition the lesion is in, patients may decide on removal for several reasons: Removing precancerous or cancerous skin growths Improving self-confidence A desire to look more normal Reducing self-consciousness about the lesion Resection of skin lesions is defined as the removal of an abnormal growth on the skin called a lesion. Skin lesions include moles, warts, skin tags, and cancers. Some reasons for undergoing this procedure are your lesions are precancerous or cancerous, the lesion has created a chronic skin irritation or for cosmetic preferences. How does Resection of Skin Lesions work? First, Dr. Moszczynski will cleanse the area. The skin surrounding the lesion will be injected with anesthesia. Techniques for skin lesion removal differ depending on why you’re removing it and the location of the lesion. Some common techniques include removal with a scalpel, laser surgery, cryosurgery, electrosurgery, curettage, and mohs micrographic surgery. Stitches will be used to close the incision after the lesion has been removed. Sterilized stickers can also be used to keep the skin closed. The area will be bandaged. The amount of time this procedure takes depends on the method used and can vary from 5 to 20 minutes. Preparing for Skin Lesion Removal Preparing for skin lesion removal is a simple process. Your doctor will provide you with specific instructions, as well as the following recommendations: Avoid vitamins, herbal supplements and medications that cause thinning of the blood Quit smoking Recovery from Skin Lesion Removal After the skin lesion removal procedure, your anesthesia can take several hours to wear off fully. Throughout this time, you must carefully avoid sustaining any impacts or scrapes to the area, since it will still be numb, and you won’t notice any damage being inflicted. As soon as the numbness goes away, you will feel some discomfort, but this can be treated with the use of over-the-counter medication such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen. You must keep the area that was operated on clean and dry. Do this by covering it with a sterile bandage for 1-2 days. If stickers were used, they would fall off on their own in a week’s time. Talk to Dr. Moszczynski about when it is okay for you to bathe, shower or soak in water. Do not fully submerge the wound in water until it has fully healed. Pat the wound dry after you washed it. Stitches will be left in for 3 to 14 days, depending on the location of the wound. You may take pain medication if necessary. Contact Dr. Moszczynski if you experience any of the following: Any new symptoms Pain that doesn’t lessen with pain medication Signs of infection, including fever and chills Swelling, redness, excessive bleeding, increasing pain or discharge from the incision site How Much Does Skin Lesion Removal Cost? The price of skin lesion removal surgery depends on a number of factors, including where the lesion is located, its depth and size, and which method of removal is required. During your consultation appointment, Dr. Moszczynski will take a close look at the lesion to decide on the best removal method. After this decision is made, he will schedule you for an appointment to undergo the actual skin lesion removal procedure. In addition, he will discuss payment methods and find out whether your health insurance will pay for the cost of surgery, as this procedure is frequently considered to be a medical necessity. If it doesn’t, Dr. Moszczynski does accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards, and he even offers financing through CareCredit®. Is Skin Lesion Removal Right for Me? If you struggle with a skin lesion that makes you feel concerned about your health or unhappy with your appearance, you might wish to consider skin lesion removal from Dr. Moszczynski.

While many cosmetic treatments have remained popular, there are others that have failed to stick. Botox®, however, is one that has been around for many years. This treatment is designed to diminish fine lines and wrinkles that other procedures cannot effectively eliminate. Botox® requires that a board-certified general surgeon perform the injection. Also a phlebologist, Dr. Zbigniew Moszczynski offers Botox® to the residents of New Jersey at his Vein & Skin Studio in Bayonne. What is Botox®? Botox, Vein and Skin Studio, Bayonne, NJBotox®, which is also called botulinum toxin type A, is an injectable filler that cosmetic surgeons generally use to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that naturally form as you age. The formula is created from a refined bacterium, and it works by paralyzing your facial muscles for a temporary amount of time. The paralysis makes your skin look smoother and younger. Botox® can also be used to treat overactive bladder and migraines. Botox® Benefits Botox® may be the ideal treatment for you if you want to: Make yourself look younger with softer skin Prevent and eliminate wrinkles, including those on your forehead Reduce the production of sweat in your underarms Temporarily smooth wrinkles in your face Try an alternative method of treating and controlling migraines Botox® is generally used to treat a variety of medical conditions such as: Muscle spasms Muscle spasticity Twitching of the eyelid Proper alignment of the eyes Patients who are unhappy with their appearance because of the natural process of aging typically seek Botox® treatment. The injections can help you look younger, and the results can boost your self-esteem. Where can Botox® be Applied? Botox can be applied to many areas of the face, including: Bunny Lines Chin dimples Crow’s feet Eyebrows Forehead lines Frown lines Gummy smile Lip lines Marionette lines Platysmal bands How long does Botox® Last? The improved appearance can last for up for 6 months before the treatment could be repeated. A number of patients who repeatedly use the treatment can develop antibodies that neutralize the effect of the injections. Botox-Before-and-After, Vein and Skin Studio, Bayonne, NJ What is Therapeutic Botox® Injections for Hyperhidrosis? Botox® can be injected into the skin to treat severe underarm sweating when topical medications do not work well enough in people 18 years or older. This treatment allows for blissful relief from sweating in the treated area for 4 to 18 months. How Botox® works for Hyperhidrosis The procedure can last anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes depending on the area being treated. You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within a week of treatment. Using a higher dose of Botox®, will increase the duration between treatments. This is a fairly simple procedure. A very fine needle is prepped with Botox® and injected into the affected area just beneath the skin. The amount of injections required will be based upon the assessment of the area and condition. How is Botox® Administered? Botox® is sometimes injected following the administration of a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area. However, many patients do not become uncomfortable enough to need anesthesia. At Vein & Skin Studio, Dr. Moszczynski uses a very thin needle for the Botox® injections, which are administered to the muscles in your face. The number of injections that he performs will depend on how many fine lines and wrinkles you have and how severe they are. In a majority of cases, the effects of Botox last for four to six months. After that time, you will need to return to the office for additional treatments if you wish to maintain the smoother, youthful appearance that Botox® provides. Botox® Procedure Preparation It is essential that you tell Dr. Moszczynski if you have had other injections during the previous four months. You also need to avoid taking blood-thinning medications such as aspirin before your treatment to reduce the risk of excessive bleeding. Also, let him know if you are using allergy medications, muscle relaxers or sleep aids prior to your appointment. Botox® Recovery Following your treatment, you will have the ability to smile and frown as normal. However, you should avoid vigorous exercise or roughly rubbing your face. You can put an ice pack on your face or take over-the-counter medications to help minimize any swelling or discomfort after the treatment. It is also recommended that you sleep on your back. How Much Does Botox® Treatment Cost? Most insurance companies categorize cosmetic procedures as elective treatments and do not cover their costs. In order to make Botox® more accessible and affordable for patients, Vein & Skin Studio offers financing options through CareCredit® and accepts personal checks, cash, and major credit cards. If you have any questions about the costs, do not hesitate to contact us.
