Fundamentally, individual sessions provide you with a private and professional environment to solve a problem. Private in every sense of the word – your conversation is private, and your records are, too. As licensed healthcare providers, we are bound by Federal regulations and Nebraska laws to protect your privacy. Professional relationships reflect the intention to serve your needs and goals in a protected and uninterrupted environment – one that is different than a friendship or advice from a one-size-fits-all self-help source.

Hypnosis is well known as a help for smoking cessation. Weight management strategies often employ hypnosis. But that is just the beginning.
You’ll find that an experienced clinician can use hypnosis to facilitate or accelerate the progress you make for:
habit control
pain management
pyschotherapy
personal growth
DBT is a set of coping skills that were originally developed to manage Borderline Personality Disorder symptoms. Typically, the primary targeted behaviors are self harm, chronic suicidal ideation/attempts, and a chaotic lifestyle. Since DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) was developed a lot of research has been done to see how effective it can be in other situations including: eating disorders, chemical dependency, and marital therapy. The research is positive across all spectrums, and this is why I use it as my therapeutic frame. You don’t have to be diagnosed with Borderline Personality to benefit from DBT.

I have had a multitude of different therapists throughout the years. However, NOTHING has fit my schedule, personality, and needs the way that ACP has done! I have been working with Kerry and she is truly understanding, compassionate, and REAL! She makes me realize that therapy does not have to be work but it can be eye opening and a free space to share your emotions. Great employees and company :)
Frequently Asked Questions About Associated Counseling Professionals
How long is each session?
Our standard sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes. While sessions may occasionally extend slightly beyond this time, we maintain intervals between appointments to update client records, return calls, and prepare for subsequent sessions. This scheduling structure ensures we remain on schedule throughout the day. Extended sessions are available at a different billing rate. Please discuss session length preferences with your therapist.
Do I need a referral before being seen at ACP?
In most cases, a referral is not required. If you're seeking personal growth or therapeutic support, we welcome the opportunity to work with you through the changes you'd like to make. However, if you're currently receiving therapy elsewhere, we recommend discussing your situation with your existing therapist first. This conversation can help determine whether continuing with your current provider, transitioning to our practice, or pursuing adjunctive services such as hypnosis or EMDR while maintaining your primary therapeutic relationship is the best approach. Additionally, please be aware that certain insurance carriers require prior authorization for services before or within 24 hours of your first appointment. Our staff will assist you with this process, though we encourage you to familiarize yourself with your coverage details to avoid unexpected costs.
I do not have any health insurance, what are the fees?
For self-pay clients, the standard counseling session is $240. Our nurse practitioners have separate fee structures. Please contact our office for additional information regarding psychiatric services.
What insurance companies are covered?
We accept most major insurance carriers, including United Health Care, Mutual of Omaha, Coventry, Aetna, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, and Midlands Choice, among others. You can verify coverage by checking your outpatient mental health benefits directly with your insurance provider, or our office staff will be happy to verify your benefits for you. Please note that we do not participate with any Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Do I have to pay or will your office bill me?
Payment for your deductible and/or co-pay (co-insurance) is due at the time of your appointment.
Do you prescribe medication at your office?
Yes, we have Advanced Practice Registered Nurses on staff who provide psychiatric medication assessment and treatment. Contact our office for details about scheduling with Naomi Kigondu, APRN. We can also assist in coordinating care with other psychiatrists throughout the metro area. Please inform your therapist if you'd like assistance with medication management.
Is there a set number of sessions for marriage counseling or any other type of counseling? How often do we need to come in?
We do not have a predetermined number of sessions. Our counselors develop individualized treatment plans based on each client's unique circumstances. The frequency and duration of sessions are determined collaboratively to best support your therapeutic goals.
Do you have counselors that see small children?
Yes, we have clinicians who work with young children. Emily Lichter, Todd Kerr, and Glen Fineman provide services for small children. Alex Machuca works with children ages thirteen and older.
