For over twenty years, our providers have had a proven track record and excellent reputation in the area. Our doctors and staff have led the way in quality, service, and convenience. From developing the first accredited operating office suite in Wilmington to achieving local and national recognition, our providers have above all honored the Summit mission: “to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to our patients”.
AAASF Surgical Suite
The operating suite at the Summit office in Wilmington is nationally accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAASF). We were the first in Wilmington to have this important distinction demonstrating that we maintain the highest quality of patient care. Our operating suite meets the stringent national standards for equipment, operating room safety protocols, certified personnel and credentialing as set forth by the AAAASF.
CLIA Certified Mohs Lab
For your convenience and to ensure the very best outcome from your cancer surgery, the Summit has CLIA certified Mohs labs in Wilmington and Supply. Our board certified dermatologist is a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon. This means that your pathology specimen is prepared in our CLIA certified lab and is being read under the microscope at the time of your surgery. This methodical process in which tissue is removed and examined, has the highest cure rate for skin cancer removal.

My experience with Summit Dermatology has been exceptional.
Not only is Dr. Shedlofsky a kind and caring physician but her staff is wonderful. I especially want to acknowledge Megan, the triage nurse. She has been awesome in helping me with my prescriptions.
She takes the extra time to be sure what needs to be done is. And to answer all questions
Thank you

I had a very frustrating experience with the front desk handling of my appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 3:30 PM, and I arrived on time. By 4:00 PM—after I had already been waiting 30 minutes—the office informed patients they were running an additional 30 minutes behind. And asked patients if everyone was okay waiting or needed to reschedule. I agreed to wait.
At that point, I asked how much time we have, confirmed they estimate another 30 minute so I briefly stepped outside for about 10 minutes to check on my elderly parents who were with me, let them know the wait would be longer, and grab my laptop out of the car so I could continue working while I waited.
When I returned, I made eye contact with the receptionist, smiled, and said “I’m back,” then sat down and waited. At no point did anyone tell me that stepping out would affect my place in line or that I had been called.
I then patiently waited, watching patients who had been waiting with me at the beginning get seen followed by multiple patients who arrived after me also being called back. I continued to wait quietly, assuming I would be next around the expected time.
By 4:35 PM—already beyond the additional 30 minutes I had been asked to wait and over an hour since my original appointment time I was the only person left in the lobby. I finally went up to the desk to ask if I would still be seen. Only then was I told, very casually, that I had actually been called while I stepped out and “wasn’t there.” The receptionist was very condescending.
No one informed me of this when I returned, despite me clearly checking back in. No one attempted to call or text me, even though they had my contact information. Instead, I was effectively moved to the end of the queue without any communication, while staff watched me sit there and continued to take every other patient ahead of me.
There was no apology by the receptionist. I was ultimately not seen until around 5:00 PM. All of this - just to be seen by a doctor for may be 5 or 10 minutes at most. As I was checking out with who I assume was the nurse I asked her if they typically run late and she said yes - again very dismissive. Only then did another doctor come by and apologized for the wait as she could see I was frustrated.
I completely understand that delays happen, but the lack of communication and basic courtesy in this situation was extremely disappointing—especially after I had already been waiting and had traveled a significant distance. Patients’ time should be treated with more respect and reception trained better - poor receptionists reflect badly on your business.

Please pass on a shout out to Doctor S and Angel for a good experience today and fitting me in even though you had a busy schedule..
Switching over to Summit dermatology has been a great experience, although no one really enjoys going to the dermatologist you both make it a good and positive experience.

I have had several appointments with Catherine and if I could give her 20
Stars I would! She is extremely knowledgeable, kind and listens to all of your concerns. I had some anxiety about the IPL treatments and she explained everything so there were no surprises! She is one of the best medical professionals I have had contact with over the years and would recommend her to anyone looking for better skin.

Beware. They sent samples to an Out of Network provider now have nearly $ $500 in bills. The second time I called and asked if I was going to have the same amount of bills for my second visit and they told me they were changing who they were working for send out samples and that it would either be covered by my insurance or no bill. I am writing this because I did get another bill. I feel I have amazing, my insurance I have never paid anything extra on my current insurance, (I have gone through multiple levels with endocrinologist, nephrologist from post cancer, I've had a childbirth, and have seen several other dermatologists and have never gotten an additional bill from any in office procedure. Unfortunately, my insurance does not allow me to pick my specialist.
Overall, I wasn't impressed with my office visit in the first place, but I am usually not too worried about bedside manners. I am worried about getting bills that are unexpected. So I would avoid them if you want a provider that has good bedside manners.
But more importantly, I would avoid them if you don't want to be straddled with extra bills that are unexpected even after verifying over the phone that you weren't going to be billed for samples being sent.
