  I can honestly say that Amae Health saved my life. I have Bipolar II and was going through the most severe depression of my life. I was doing the worst thing I could possibly do, which was isolating. Isolation exacerbated my depression and I felt hopeless with constant suicidal thoughts. My childhood best friend (a psychologist with a thriving practice) and I were researching Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) in the greater Raleigh/Durham area. Amae Health looked like the clear best option compared to other PHPs/IOPs, but my type of Medicaid insurance didn’t cover it. My friend helped me go through the painful experience of switching my Medicaid insurance to Alliance Health (Medicaid’s Tailored Plan which specializes in Behavioral Health), but it was absolutely worth it to become a member (Amae’s compassionate name for patient). Amae Health is truly life-saving because of their integrated and holistic approach, which includes psychiatrists, therapists, Registered Dietitians (love this), a general practitioner, peer-led groups, and an overall amazing staff all at the same location. The staff regularly communicate with each other regarding members' treatment which is unprecedented in my previous experience. The staff are world-class, deeply compassionate, and they wildly exceeded my expectations because they help their members with all aspects of life, including food, physical movement, applying for disability, and so much more. My therapist is the best therapist I’ve ever had! One of the things that I love about my psychiatrist is how carefully she tailored my medication plan based on my personal experience. This was a blessing because I received the full therapeutic benefit without the side effects I previously struggled with in the past. In summary, if you or a loved one is struggling with any severe mental illness (SMI) or a scary deep depression, I can’t imagine a better place to go for help!

  My friend was really struggling. They started going to this clinic and Amae helped them get back to work and feel like themselves again. I’m thankful they exist.
