I have been a customer since 2016, so I am extremely disappointed with my most recent experience. I went for an eye exam on July 23rd and was told that I needed medically necessary contact lenses. Since then, I have had to repeatedly call to get updates, and it is now September 2nd and I still have not received the help I need. I eventually had to go to another eye center because I was not getting anywhere. I was informed that the billing company denied my medically necessary contact lenses. What concerns me the most is that the claim was apparently never submitted to my insurance company. If the claim was never submitted, I have no opportunity to have my insurance company properly review the request or appeal the decision. This has been a major inconvenience for me personally and professionally. I am a General Manager and store manager at a fast-food restaurant, which requires me to constantly move throughout the restaurant, including going in and out of the cooler and freezer. I also work around grease and food, which makes wearing glasses difficult because they constantly get dirty. Contact lenses are also much more practical for my everyday life. I have a 17-month-old who is constantly grabbing at my glasses because he is still too young to understand that he shouldn't pull them off my face. What I find especially concerning is being told that I can simply use my glasses instead. That does not address my specific circumstances or the reason I was prescribed medically necessary contact lenses in the first place. If my insurance company actually made that determination, I would like to see the documentation showing that my insurance reviewed and denied the claim. If the claim was never submitted, then I do not understand how that determination could have been made. I have been a customer for many years, and I expected much better communication and assistance. I should not have to repeatedly call for updates or go to another eye center just to get help with a claim that should have been properly submitted in the first place. At this point, I am requesting that this matter be escalated and that I receive a clear explanation of what happened, whether the claim was actually submitted to my insurance, why my medically necessary contact lenses were denied, and what can be done to correct this situation. I would appreciate a prompt resolution because this has already been going on since July 23rd and is directly affecting my work and daily life.

Ross was wonderful. He helped my husband after he had cataract surgery. He put in clear lens in his glasses. There was no where in Greenville that was able to do that without waiting for weeks plus the huge expense that they wanted to charge us. Ross was very accommodating, kind and excellent helping us through this ordeal. I highly recommend him.

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
