I’ve never posted a bad review of any business, before this one.
As a beginner, even the first level class was problematic because I didn’t understand what was being taught. There was no training. I didn’t know what muscles to be using. And I didn’t understand the vocabulary. It was also way too fast. So basically, word salad and confusion.
On the business side of things, I had a bunch of negative experiences. They would not transfer me from North Asheville to Biltmore Park and weren’t explaining it. I believe it’s because they are franchises and the one in North Asheville didn’t want to lose money, but I can’t be sure of that.
All of the interactions online are very corporate. Forms need to be filled out and they won’t take action without the form and of time passes you can get screwed. I missed a deadline to change my number of monthly passes to reduce it, and because their corporate process wasn’t followed, I got charged anyway, even though I had let them know that I wanted to make the change, long before the next upcoming date.
In any event, I expressed my displeasure and canceled, but they still took my next payment anyway. I understand there’s a 30 day cancellation notice provision, but since I was quite unhappy they should’ve waived it. I politely asked them to do so, and they didn’t get back to me and refused. And I also let them know that I’d rather not leave a negative review, but I guess they opted for me to leave this review rather than give me a few bucks back.
Overall, bad experience. I’m now at a new place and it is beyond fantastic. I’m so glad I didn’t give up on Pilates because of this experience.

I have had two instances where instructors "hovered" over me (oldest in the class typically). I actually had to shoo one of them away. They need to understand that precision does not mean perfection. And watch out for that ageism. It's a thing here.
