They are selling the same water twice. Adults who pay a monthly fee to use the pool, plus an *extra* one time fee to use the outdoor pool during the summer, are routinely treated as second class patrons when trying to work out in the water. Kids' swim lessons already take over 2/3 of the lanes in the indoor pool, and now that that pool is closed for cleaning, they have moved the swim lessons outdoors and are taking up 2/3 of the evening lanes that adults count on, UNTIL 7:30 PM. And the outdoor pool closes at 8pm, leaving THIRTY MINUTES at the end of the day for adult to have full use of the lap lanes after a standard 8 - 5p work day. Absolutely ridiculous. There is no reason except pure greed that the kids' swim lessons cannot be put on hold for two weeks to continue letting adults who have limited time to exercise, use the water they are ALREADY PAYING FOR. Do I get to pay 33% of my membership fee for access to 33% of the lap lanes? Sure don't! Tonight I will be looking into other gyms who have pools without swim lessons set at such ridiculous times, taking up 66% of the usable swim lanes. On top of that, the swim instructors are horribly rude to anyone who DARES ask if we can share a lane. The pool manager was useless. The lifeguards were rude. I absolutely do no recommend this facility if you have any hopes of using a swim lane in the evening.

Hosanna in the HIGHEST! My Son LOVES to pool hop! So much that We will build an entire weekend around a pool experience lol! I like to work out, when looking for local shenanigans We can't ALWAYS find a space that we both LOVE and checks off all the boxes!
AND... We LOVE this YMCA because it does INDEED! We live over 30 minutes away, so while they are not the most convenient... We have found them to be Thee ABSOLUTE DOPEST in terms of their facilities and employees specifically. Last week, when we popped out, Hannah was absolutely wonderful! She was friendly, informative, and genuinely made sure all of my questions about membership were answered. More importantly, she made sure my ENTIRE family felt welcomed, which goes a long way because I am HUGE on community. She was patient, personable, and made the process feel easy instead of overwhelming. And she gets EXTRA points because her name is a palindrome! *They also fed us and that is always a perk for Rich Noah!
Hannah, thank you for making our experience at the YMCA Carondelet such a positive one. You represented the YMCA beautifully and We are Elephant Ecstatic about our next visit!

**Beware people get aggressive and possessive about benches in the pool area**
I've had the weirdest experience ever at this Y. It was my first time here. I went to the steamroom. There was one guy in there. He was in a meditative position. I was quiet and minding my own business and sat far from him on the other side.
He stop meditating and looked at me and made a gross sound and left. I didn't think anything about it. Some people are just having a bad day. I was getting dizzy so I left. I set on a bench that had nothing on it next to the sauna, and the same guy got really angry and said, this is my bench.
You can't sit here! I know how I look and how I can be perceived.
So I just said "im so sorry" and I got up and left, felt really bad. Staff seem nice, just beware, people are weirdos who go there. I normally go to south city Y and never had problems.
