First things first, I am an allergy patient of Dr McDonald. I only see him about once a year, but Yolanda is very thorough and very prompt, but Dr McDonald seems to be thorough on accident. It is always casual and in recline. Dr McDonald is well trained and knows his business.
The allergy department is a of a circus. If you value your own time, if you can , try to find another place to get your allergy shots.
Over the years it has been my experience that the people working in the allergy department work at their own speed which means you can get your shots in 5 to 7 minutes or you may have to wait over an hour.
You can always get lucky and get allergy technicians that will get you in and out very quickly.
The allergy department does not take appointments to get your shots nor do they take appointments for you to be trained to have your own shots for yourself.
The allergy shots department is first come first serve. You have to sign in and wait your turn.
Because of this , sometimes, I go weeks without getting my shots because I have my own rule that I don't wait more than 15 minutes.
There is ample parking as it shares a building with the MU urgent Care at the bottom level and Dr McDonald's office is on the second floor.
There is an elevator and they're also stairs.
I find that the waiting room for allergy shots to be claustrophobic as there is poor ventilation and there are no windows. There is a water cooler outside the waiting room for allergy shots.
The main waiting room is decent size but it has no windows and the magazine collection is weak.

I had gone to this office for a long time, and I’ve never had experienced so much unprofessionalism from their allergy staff last year as they had made excuses indicating that they were training new staff, which caused people to wait at least 20 minutes for shots. This got bad to the point where I had requested my records be transferred to a different doctor. They were never transferred to a different doctor, and I had also found out that from the new doctor that I had seen that I shouldn’t be on allergy shots due to my being on a beta blocker, that was it. This majorily conflicts with Yolanda’s recommendation that if I have an allergic reaction to take 4 teaspoons of Benadryl and call 911. Before that I had not known any better. I had requested from Dr. McDonald’s office that my upcoming retest be canceled, which it was not because Dr. McDonald’s office called me today asking if I was still getting my treatments. I told them no because I had fired them month is ago. They then said that they were sorry to hear that, and asked if I wanted to keep my retesting appointment scheduled in a week. I told them no because I had canceled it previously. This is very unprofessional and I would suggest that if you need allergy treatment to go somewhere else.

I’ve been getting my allergy shots for going on two years now. I have never had a good experience with the front office staff ever. They always act angry and like you are bothering them for helping you. Also, the doctors never show up on time and multiple times I’ve had to sit and wait for shots until a doctor decides to show up. Never on time. Today I went in for an appointment that I thought was a 9 am. They told me it was at 8:40. I got there at 8:50. She scuffed at me and said my appt was at 8:40. I said well do I need to cancel my appointment then, she said no I’ll go ahead and put you in. She closed the glass window and I could hear another lady say are you serious she showed up late. The other lady said I was told 9 and that she didn’t tell me that. I never said she told me 9, but that’s what I was told initially. I walked back up and told them to cancel my appointment. Next time maybe not talk so loud to where your clients can hear you complaining about them. Especially when your own doctors can’t show up on time. I will never return to this office.
