- BLBrenda LJun 16, 20261.0Please be safe. I am very sorry that I used this company. They did a subpar job installing the ramp. I have been trying for the second time to get anyone to care and come out to fix the ramp. They came out once right before the warranty ended. They were not helpful and were leaving before they fixed all the issues. I had to ask them to stay and fix the rest of the ramp. The ramp is already failing again. I can not get them to come back out for repairs. They keep directing me back to the same person. I don't want the same person, he hasn't fixed it yet, why would I want him to come back and waste my time. This is not a luxury. It is the only wheelchair access for my mother.I have no other way of getting her out of the house. I explained the importance and still nothing. It's outside of warranty now I'm sure that will be another fight. Save yourself some headaches and find a professional, respectable company! **Upate***This company did nothing to make this situation better. I asked for a refund of the service fee I had to pay Med X Change, (great company by the way this Med X place, thanks)to come out repair the ramp and render it safe. They declined, $250 was more important to them than making up for their mistakes. The reason for denying was that they would have charged me a service fee also. However as stated in all correspondence with this company they did send a person out before the warranty was up. It is not my fault that person didn't make the necessary repairs and I had to call them back out. They said they would "look into it" I truly hope they do so maybe they can do better for the next person.

Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
