The staff was super friendly. The doctor addressed my concerns and took action immediately. I would recommend them.

It took more than 6 months to get an appointment. Then the Doctor was in such a hurry, I felt like just a number. I will be going somewhere else next year.

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Johansen. During my appointments, I felt that very little effort was made to investigate what was actually causing my condition. The visits felt rushed, and after only a few minutes, I was prescribed medications, including a shampoo and body wash, without any thorough evaluation or testing. When the medications did not work, I had to return for a second appointment, bringing my two-month-old baby with me. I was hoping for answers and a more in-depth investigation, but instead, I felt dismissed. Whenever I asked questions about what could be causing my symptoms, I received very little explanation and was simply prescribed another medication. Unfortunately, that medication did not work either. After two appointments of frustration, I decided to switch to another clinic. The difference was incredible. The new provider took the time to listen to my concerns, thoroughly investigate my symptoms, and order an ultrasound. They were able to identify the actual cause of my condition and provide an effective solution. For the first time, I felt heard and cared for as a patient. Based on my experience, I would encourage others to be cautious. I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously, and there was little interest in finding the root cause of my condition. Patients deserve providers who listen, investigate thoroughly, and focus on finding answers rather than simply prescribing medications and moving on.

Last fall I came in with what I thought was acne and the doctor I saw told me to wean my baby and start taking prednisone and a cocktail of antibiotics. I got a second opinion and I am actually allergic to an ingredient that was in many of my personal care products, so I did not need to wean my child or take heavy-duty meds, just change the shampoo and facial cleanser I was using. Recently I went in to see a different doctor at Derm Spec about an abnormal mole that she agreed needed to be removed. The nurse had no idea what she was doing with the numbing agent and failed to numb me properly, which led to me feeling the doctor slice into my hand with a razor blade. It also bled significantly, which was abnormal for me (have had multiple moles removed in the past with no real bleeding). The doctor and nurse both then forgot to tell me I needed to purchase cleaning products for the wound care, so I had to go back the next day to buy them. Safe to say, after my regular skin check this fall, I will be finding a different clinic for future derm needs. I do not trust the opinions or abilities of doctors at Derm Spec anymore.
