Vaccinations

Routine vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to keep yourself healthy. Our pharmacies provide annual flu vaccines, COVID-19 vaccinations, routine child and adult immunizations, catch-up vaccines and travel vaccines.

This vaccine protects against chickenpox, a disease caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults born in 1980 or later need two doses.

This vaccine protects against coronavirus. Depending on the manufacturer, up to two doses and a booster are currently recommended.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis A, an infection in the liver often spread by contaminated food and caused by hepatitis A virus. Adults traveling outside the country, those with chronic liver disease, and men who have sex with men need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis B, a blood-borne infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus. Adults with chronic health conditions and healthcare workers should get three doses of this vaccine.

This vaccine protects against HPV, the major cause of cervical cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts in both women and men. Adults age 9-26 need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against influenza, a contagious viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. Everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

This vaccine protects against the respiratory disease measles, the infectious disease mumps, and the viral disease rubella. Adults born in 1957 or later need at least one dose.

There are two types of meningococcal vaccines that protect against meningococcal disease, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis infections around the brain and spinal cord. All 11-12 year olds should get a meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a booster dose at 16 years old. People age 16-23 years also may get a serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.

These vaccines protect against pneumococcal disease, caused by bacteria leading to ear and sinus infections as well as more serious lung and blood infections. If you smoke, have heart disease, asthma, chronic lung disease, or are over 65 years old, you need at least one dose.

This vaccine protects against polio, a disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord and cause paralysis. Children are recommended to get one vaccine dose at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

This vaccine protects against shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults age 50 and older need two doses.

These vaccines protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis which are contagious bacterial diseases. Adults need one dose of Tdap, then a Td or Tdap booster every 10 years.

Physical & Wellness Screenings

Our pharmacies offer a number of wellness screenings to help detect and prevent certain diseases.

When you come in for a biometric screening, your provider will measure your height, weight and blood pressure. They will also test your blood glucose, and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) using a finger prick to obtain a blood sample. Before leaving you will have your results along with risk reduction counseling to help you achieve your optimum health. **Biometric Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Blood glucose measurement detects the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. High or low blood sugars could indicate a metabolic condition, such as diabetes.

Hemoglobin A1C measures your average blood glucose (sugar) over the past 90 days. An elevated hemoglobin A1C could indicate the presence of diabetes. **Hemoglobin A1C Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Cholesterol screening measures the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol screenings can detect conditions such as high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

My partner and I have used this pharmacy for a long time. Recently, because we are going out of town for a week or so, and we and our dog rely on daily prescriptions that our doctors and vet provide, we have been in touch with 4 different people at this pharmacy over the last few weeks so that we could be proactive and work with them about needing a few prescriptions filled early (they will run out partway through our trip) - including anti-seizure medication. In response to advice from someone on the phone at the pharmacy, my partner went up to the pharmacy with a print-out of our travel arrangements including dates, flight numbers, etc., so the pharmacy has them on file for audit purposes. The pharmacist who was working that night behaved like an unprofessional bully, and proceeded to scold my partner for not "keeping track of how many pills are left" and "planning vacation around it" (as if it is their fault for needing to pick up a prescription every 90 days to function, and despite the fact they went up there TO HELP the pharmacy by providing documentation for them). He made sure to stress the massive inconvenience this is and how big of an ask it is, made my partner beg in a grocery store for help about how to get their daily medication and publicly disclose their condition. My partner and I both work in healthcare and have for a long time, and it was astounding how intentionally and unnecessarily cruel this pharmacist was. I am not complaining about the difficulties of dispensing a medication early, as a simple "I'm sorry but I am not sure if we can do this" would have sufficed. It was the lack of decency, and casual cruelty, by someone in a position of authority that I find simply unacceptable in a professional environment. Unfortunately, one problematic individual is enough to offset the other kind employees who work there. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. There are many pharmacies in the area.

My personal family is from Ohio, so I still have doctors I see in that area despite living in the area of this Kroger in Michigan. I had a prescription written from an Ohio doctor, and when I went to get it filled the pharmacist told me she was uncomfortable and refused to fill my prescription because of its class and due to the prescription being from Ohio. The whole experience made me feel confused and embarrassed, and I felt judged based on my appearance that the prescription was not going to be taken for its use. I will not be returning to this pharmacy again.

Joe, the pharmacy manager, is very knowledgeable, compassionate, and generally cares about giving customers the best service possible. He's has helped me understand my medications, interactions, and has assisted me with script issues. Shortened hours and lack of staff continuity can cause problems, though. Kroger needs to treat their employees better so they want to stay.

Very poor service from this pharmacy. I wrote a prescription for a patient and they sent my patient away without bothering to call me because the date was not filled out. They told my patient I needed to fill in the date and initial. Silly, but OK. I did just that and they still refused to fill the prescription. Why? I used a different color ink. Go around the corner to CVS. Much more professional and quicker to boot!
