I’ve been taking Maha’s cycling classes at another gym for the past 3 years, so when she invited me to check out Onelife Fitness in Olney, I was excited to see what it was like. I was honestly very impressed. The gym was clean, organized, and had a great overall atmosphere. One of the biggest highlights for me was the pool area — I love swimming, and being able to reserve lanes is a total gamechanger. Of course, Maha didn’t disappoint with her class. She always brings amazing energy and delivers a great workout, which is why I’ve continued taking her classes for years. If you haven’t taken her class yet, you definitely should!

I’m a member at the Clinton gym, but I recently visited the Olney location due to work and was really impressed with the facility. The gym was clean, well-maintained, and had a great atmosphere. The cycling instructor, Maha, was especially outstanding — energetic, motivating, and great at keeping the class engaging from start to finish. The music, pacing, and encouragement made for an excellent workout experience. You can tell she genuinely cares about helping members stay motivated and challenged. Overall, I had a great experience at the Olney gym and would definitely visit again when I’m in the area!

I recently visited this gym as a guest, and I was honestly very impressed with the overall experience. The facility was clean, well-organized, and had a really welcoming and motivating atmosphere. The equipment was modern and well-maintained, and everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful. One of the best parts of my visit was the cycling class with Maha. She was an incredible instructor — energetic, motivating, and very engaging throughout the entire class. She explained everything clearly, kept the energy high, and made the workout both challenging and enjoyable. Even as a guest, I felt completely comfortable and encouraged to keep pushing myself. After this experience, I can definitely see myself joining this gym in the future. Huge thanks to Maha for making such a great impression!

I’ve been a member for nearly 4 years, and unfortunately the gym environment has changed a lot over time. In the evenings especially, it feels more like a hangout spot for high school and college students than a place to seriously work out. Most evenings and early mornings the parking lot is completely full, and you constantly have to wait for weight machines. The sauna is also constantly overcrowded no matter what day or time you go, which takes away from one of the main amenities many members pay for. Another issue is that the ratio of machines to members clearly hasn’t been upgraded as membership has grown. The gym simply doesn’t seem equipped to handle the number of people coming in anymore. I understand gyms get busy, but the overcrowding and overall atmosphere have made the experience far less enjoyable than it used to be.

Issues: 1. Main issue: There are a TON of people mainly due to poor gym design. (More details below). What’s the point of a gym if you can’t use any of the equipment? 1a. The recovery area now takes up a medium sized section of space. The recovery idea is fine bc of Sam, however that puts pressure on finding other spots. 1B. The gym has a lot of open space so machines can get much more busy. Ex. Pointless Upstairs turf. 1C. Also no, the addition of the outside area doesn’t really help reduce crowd. 2. Cheap low quality gym equipment. 2a. Personally I’m not a fan of “hoist” equipment that moves your body while you lift. Life fitness is a much better commercial brand. 2a. Some of the old gym equipment isn’t used nearly as much especially compared to leg based equipment. Ex. No one uses the row of upper body machines by the benches compared to when it used to be leg equipment. 3. Old equipment and amenities: 3A. Now that the gym is 6 years old the equipment is old and well used. Ex. The sandbags are way too old and lost their handle. 3B. Water fountain was broken. This signifies all aspects of the gym need replacement as old equipment has a higher chance of failing. 3C. I would bet that other areas like lockers are failing too. 4. Disorganized gym equipment. Generally it should be organized by push, pull and legs. However the gym has no clear organization. 5. These shortfalls might mean that the GM/ leadership is not paying attention to the overall gym. Their incompetence is just hidden bc they have amazing sales team (ex. rich) that does all the work and continues to sell a low quality gym. Recommendation: 1. Get rid of the upstairs turf. A. Replace it with standard gym equipment. Sure the student athletic trainers may not be happy but it’s make much more sense for membership. B. I would then move a lot of the upper body machines to the top floor. C. Replace the empty lower level all with decent leg machines. D. Since there is now an outside turf the student athletes trainers can just use that instead of pointless turf. 2. Replace Hoist for a better brand like life-fitness Axiom brand. 3. Give Rich a raise, he is an amazing employee. You’re lucky he’s on the team. 4. Try to replace some of the old equipment and amenities that are well-used to prevent issues. - ex. water fountain. 5. Try to evaluate which machines aren’t used and replace with better machines.
