I came to the ER with a postoperative complication following an appendectomy and left feeling ignored and disrespected after repeatedly expressing concerns about my care and pain. I understand that emergency departments are busy, but patients should still be treated with dignity, listened to, and kept informed.
What was most disturbing was that when I advocated for myself—even over relatively small issues—the response seemed unnecessarily punitive rather than supportive. At one point, security was called after a physician had specifically directed me to a bed because sitting upright was causing significant pain at my surgical incision. I had already been waiting for hours.

I arrived at 5:40/6 am & sat in the hallway with an IV drip until I requested to be discharged at 12:50pm. Completely out of beds. No comfort available. They ran test within the first 2 hours I arrived & the service / speed went downhill from there. I asked for results & updates at 11 & was informed they wouldnt know when they would be ready. By 12:50 I requested them take the IV out my arm so that I could leave.
When I asked for discharge forms or any type paperwork they told me they do not provide them to patients who discharge themselves & instructed me to print my own my chart & instructions.
The results loaded in my portal at almost 4pm. They wanted me to work a full 8 hour shift with them. Do your self a favor drive to doctors or Annapolis

Patient Access representatives in the emergency room need customer service training. I visited the emergency room today (8/9/26, approximately 1:30pm) with my 16 yr old, who was experiencing pain as a result of an insect bite.
Once seen by the triage nurse, we were told to go to registration window 2, to complete registration.
We did as we were instructed. I approached the window, sat down and said “good afternoon”. The young lady at window 2, never acknowledged us, she never made eye contact or paused from processing papers to at least let us know she’s be with us in a minute. She even made and took a phone call (to I’m assuming a supervisor named Portia). After the phone call, the representative at window 2 motioned toward me and my daughter saying “there’s people sitting here”, to another young lady with glasses and long wavy hair, who eventually told us to go to booth 1 for assistance.
I understand the emergency room can be very busy and the staff may frequently encounter rude and disgruntled patients and families, but there is a level of empathy and professionalism required of those working in an emergency room setting. Additionally, MY demeanor was not unpleasant or rude, so I was very disheartened to be met with such disregard and dismissiveness without cause or reason.
For many of us in this area, this facility is the only access to emergency medical treatment. It’s shameful that people with limited options are treated this way.
I am so disappointed and will do my best to never seek treatment here for myself and my loved ones.
This community deserves better. Do better!
My girlfriend two months ago was rushed to the ER in that hospital screaming in pain for hours on end. I had to rush from work to get to her. Her breasts were bleeding so bad. All they did was put a bandage on her and we waited for hours. Three hours later, she was called up but she had to do a registration. ALL THAT WAITING FOR A REGISTRATION IS RIDICULOUS! COULD Have DONE THAT AT THE DOOR! No antibiotics, no medicine, nothing. I know as I and many others that were waiting were frustrated. Just know if someone dies due to blood loss, it’s because this hospital is the worst that I have ever seen. Waste of our time.

I brought my 16 year old daughter here around 12:30-1:00 am . She was having a severe allergic reaction with hives all over her body, from her face to her feet with severe itching. Check in was smooth and the ladies at the desk were nice . It took about 20 mins to be called for triage and then another 20-30 for registration. The waiting room was not even half way filled. We didn’t get called back until 4 hours later just for my child to be placed in a pediatric observation room with 3 other adults . The room was dirty ! And you place a pediatric patient with adults ? Idc if she was 16. After waiting another 30 minutes and noticing no one came to see her , check on her or even examine her I proceeded to ask the male nurse at the desk if we could leave . His response was “ ma’am I don’t know your medical condition” in a nasty tone . I then said “ I’m not asking about medical I’m asking if we can leave the building” he then stated “ you can do whatever you want to “ from one nurse to another nurse he was very nasty , rude , and unprofessional . I ended up taking her to UM emergency department in Bowie who actually took her straight back , examined her , drew labs , provided meds and monitored her and we were discharge within 3 1/2 - 4 hours .
To receive that kind of service at the hospital for a minor dealing with an allergic reaction and to not even examine her was crazy ! Please do better ! .
