  Is it normal for a nutritionists office to require a referral from my heath insurance directly(united healthcare) even though I have a referral for them from my PCP? I have been going back and forth with The Digestive Health Center on Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie at The Tate Center. I called them 3 times last week leaving messages and they called back after the 3rd voicemail to leave me a voicemail stating that “you need a referral to be seen” even though I stated that I have one on all 3 voicemails. I finally got them on the phone today and they are refusing to see me without a referral from my insurance provider even though the insurance listed on the referral is Brian’s blue cross blue shield that is my secondary insurance that doesn’t require referrals. They told me that MD Primary Care has to call united healthcare to get a referral for me to get services. They have been rude, nasty, ratchet and complete A$holes to me on the phone. The supervisor was very unprofessional and talked over me as I was explaining the situation. I was calling The Digestive Health Center for help managing my diabetes but was treated horribly. No one deserves to be treated that way that is requesting help. Customer service training is desperately needed at this branch! I don’t even want to go to them anymore. I will take my business elsewhere where I am given respect and listened to.
