Counseling & Support
We offer extensive counseling and support services to meet your needs, whether your loved one has just received a serious or life-limiting diagnosis or is already receiving our care. Our counselors are available to provide emotional support before and after a loss through one-on-one grief counseling, support groups and remembrance events. And our trained volunteers provide additional support through assistance with errands, companionship and respite for families. If you are not sure what services you need, our care navigators are available to answer your questions and connect you to resources that can help.
Elder Medical Care
Older individuals living with serious illnesses often find themselves in an unending cycle of health crises that lead from home to the hospital to rehabilitation and back home again. Gilchrist’s team of physicians, nurse practitioners and social workers are experts in providing coordinated geriatric and comfort care, and guidance to improve quality of life. We help ensure that those who often fall through the cracks of the health care system—those who have difficulty traveling to office appointments and for whom treatment is becoming less effective—receive the care and attention they need when and where they need it.

My brother was terminal. He was only at this facility 7 days before we lost him in April. Clean facility. Tha staff are compassionate, knowledgeable, caring EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER. I could not have done this without all of them! I am forever grateful to Gilchrist. This place is amazing and exceptinal!!

The staff here, all of them, are absolute angels! So caring, so gentle, so understanding! They made the final hours for the family so much more understanding of what to expect. Even the "office" staff were caring. The "after care" was gentle and caring. When I hit the big lottery this place will get a big chunk of it! If you are on the fence about this place, take a deep breath, reach out to them. Oh, they had a musician making the rounds and my wife who was a musician who was mostly quiet in the last days was waving her foot in tune to the music. We all had tears in our eyes. We had no idea she was aware of what was happening. One word of advice, they can hear you! Keep the family gossip, sensitive topics out in the family room not the residents room.

The level of care that my father received during his last days was so special. I could never have imagined that such an amazing place like Gilchrist existed. So incredibly thankful from the bottom of my heart to Gilchrist Howard County for making the end of a hellish journey amazing.

This place was recommended to me by Anne Arundel Hospital. After Jennifer gave me a walk through I knew this was the place for my father. During my father's first day he magically came to life thanks to the warm greetings from Stacey, Mgr. Lisa, the other Lisa, and the entire staff that night and the following days. I appreciate all of you and the care that you demonstrate . This facility is better than ANY that I ever allowed my parents to stay. I am so grateful for this facility, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants the best for their loved one.

I would definitely recommend this hospice center! It's not a modern setting but it feels like a little cabin tucked away. My dad was brought here and stayed here for 2 weeks before his passing. The nurses were great to work with. Nona, Cody and Michelle were AMAZING nurses to my dad. They made him feel as if he was healthy and never treated him any differently. They made us feel like we were all family there. I stayed every night on my own air mattress and they never had a problem with it! It's quiet and very simple to get around there! Its not a huge facility but it has everything you or your love one need. My dad especially loved being able to sit out on his own private patio! My dad passed peacefully here and was able to enjoy his last days laughing, smiling and joking around! I can't thank Cody, Michelle, and Nona enough for how much they had done for my dad and our family. They are truly angels! I would recommend this place to anyone! Thank you for everything!
