- ILIan Lazarus6 days ago5.0I had my first appointment at Peepers in Bowie last week and it was the best experience I’ve ever had getting new glasses and contacts. In 40 years of going to the eye doctor and purchasing glass the team at the Bowie location is top notch. From the friendly and helpful ladies at the front counter to Dr. Lee and Kenny, my glasses tech. Dr. Lee not only gave me a solid exam and great advice, but I also felt he really had my best interest in mind and has a passion to help people with their vision needs. I then worked with Kenny to pick out my glasses. He was very knowledgeable about all the options I was interested in as well as adding value by suggesting additional options and benefits. He helped me pick out a stylish set of glasses and I am excited about their arrival. Kenny was professional yet chill and easy to work with. I would recommend Peepers in Bowie to friends and family.

The office was spotless, organized, and had such a welcoming atmosphere. Everyone there was kind and professional, and I immediately felt comfortable the moment I walked in. I especially want to give a huge shoutout to Kenny Sutton. Kenny made the entire experience feel personalized and enjoyable. I came in looking for new glasses and was honestly blown away by the selection of frames they had available. He took the time to understand my preferences, gave thoughtful recommendations based on my face shape, and helped me explore styles I normally would not have considered. In the past, I usually stuck with the same type of glasses and never put much thought into investing in quality designer frames. Kenny completely changed that experience for me. He narrowed things down to several incredible options that genuinely suited me so well that choosing just one pair became difficult. That has never happened to me before. I ended up finding frames that I am genuinely excited to wear every day, especially for my upcoming graduation. I can honestly say this is the first time I have ever been excited about glasses. What's the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?
While both are eye doctors, they have different responsibilities. An optometrist will check the overall health of the eye and determine if glasses are needed. If we determine that medical procedures are needed, or if there’s a medical concern, we refer the patient to an ophthalmologist.
Are all ophthalmic lenses the same?

Job duties: Evaluate prescriptions in conjunction with patients’ visual requirements; recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit patient needs; conduct pre-testing and diagnostic testing such as retinal imaging/fundus photos, optical coherence tomography and visual fields; measure patients’ bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes; determine patients’ current lens prescriptions using lensometers, lens analyzers, and autorefractors; measure, adjust, and fit spectacle frames; and instruct patients how to wear and care for eyeglasses.
Requirements: Position requires bachelor’s degree in biology. Position also requires at least 12 months of experience in the job offered or in the alternate occupation of ophthalmic assistant or optometrist assistant. Must have at least 6 months of experience in using lensometers and autorefractors.
