I have never been able to contact this front desk directly. On multiple occasions, I have attempted to call during my lunch break or around 3:30pm after work, and have always been sent to voicemail. When I receive a phone call back, I am unable to answer as I am working or have poor phone service in my place of work. It’s frustrating to make referral requests with the front desk in this way.

I’ve had extremely disappointing care from this office. Not only do they not answer the phones at the front desk… they’re extremely rude and not helpful. I have had multiple issues with this practice and will be switching to another gynecologist office. I do not recommend coming to this office for care at all if you want to be treated with respect.

This place does not care about your health. Highly recommend seeking care elsewhere and not wasting your time.

Negative experience with this medical practice. This Dr Shari Sopher obviously has too many patients and little time to spend with any of them. This doctor was recommended to me by a neighbor and close friend. It took a few months to get to see her (about the same time as other doctors as I was a new patient).
After that appointment I was sent for another test. From this test, she wanted me to come back in for another test. However we had lost health insurance. I explained this to her office staff but the doctor continued to call me urging me to come in for the additional test. She said she would “help me however she could” with the cost. How? She's sold out her practice to UMMC and they do the billing. They would take advantage of my being without insurance and bill me market list prices.
We got new insurance after 2 months and I called her office to make an appointment. When I mentioned I had insurance again, the urgency for me to come in suddenly evaporated and I couldn't get an appointment for 6 weeks. I don't know what her compensation arrangement is with UMMC but I'm sure she is encouraged to find ways to maximize income for the medical center. Without insurance the cost of the test she wanted me to come in for would have been $3000. With insurance, it cost me $25.
Also when I finally got into her office for the second test, her office manager over-charged me for my copay at the time of service and I had to fight with the hospital billing office to get reimbursed for the over payment. When I returned her call for the test result, it was apparent she was busy eating lunch and seemed to have little time to clearly explain the results or their significance. She forwarded them to another doctor and it wasn't her problem anymore.

I am extremely disappointed by the decline of professionalism and service at Upper Chesapeake Women's Care today. I have known them for almost 9 years and have received excellent service from Dr. Shari Sopher. Even this morning as I sat with my 3 children at an 8am appointment, I excitedly pointed at her picture telling them "that's the Doctor that took you from my tummy!" Unfortunately, after we arrived early, there was still a 20min wait only to be told that "my children are not the office's responsibility to watch during my exam and I have to reschedule". This is the SAME office that told me just weeks ago that because my children were so well-behaved, I should not go through the trouble of finding a morning Babysitter but instead, I could just bring them. When I informed the staff member of this, all she said coldly was "I don't know who you spoke with but that was wrong information. Your kids are not our responsibility." After an entire week of preparing for a Speaking engagement and making a "subplan" for today to wake my children earlier, pack a breakfast for their car ride, arrive early and bring quiet toys to occupy them (like my prior appontment), I am utterly shocked that there was no communication to me prior to this morning regarding this policy. I certainly considered it and discussed it way before today. The on-site phlebotomist had observed how well-bahaved my children were during our wait time that she even offered to watch them for me during my exam. At that point, I was grateful, but had already made the decision that lack of communication, cold-heartedness and an inconsiderate attitude is now the character of this office. For this reason, I won't be returning.
