This the worst hospital ever! Sit for hours and nothing happens. I could go into detail about my experience but after 12 hrs I’m to tired. Poor management and understaffed.

I could tell you guys about the time that they had admitted my mother and for over a week didn’t notice her contacts were still in her eyes, causing massive damage, but I think I should tell my mother in laws story. She kept having lower side pains and 3 times she would go to Upper Chesapeake, and the first 2 times they told her that it was nothing, that she needed more exercise( she was bedridden with MS at this point in her life), and treated her as if she were drug seeking and sent her home. It turned out on the 3 rd visit that she actually had an abdominal aortic aneurysm that had they not treated her as if she was some “common junkie” because she was in horrible pain and actually did testing on her, they could have found it and treated her in time. Instead her feet turning black black as night and she has a massive heart attack while waiting for more testing done only to end up dying on hospice in the hospital that treated her as if she were common trash. She even got head lice in the hospital while on hospice! Women are notoriously mistreated and unheard by people who work in medicine. A person who lived through so much and did so much had to die in such a horrible and undignified and degrading way because your medical staff refused to listen to a woman in pain! It’s been 5 years and I’m still so angry. How many others have lost their lives due to this hospital’s policies? For the love of God please take your loved ones anywhere else but here!

I should've said this all to the staff (I did but not to every single person who helped me convalesce) but so many of the nurses and Dr.s and others made me feel less worried and kept my stay here comfortable, and they took great care of me. I have unfortunately had to be admitted here more times than I can count on one hand due to some illnesses, but each time when I left the hospital I was happy with my decision to come to Upper Chesapeake. Every single person here, and during each "stay" as my girlfriend calls it, took great care to make sure I felt better. They could all see the anxiety in my eyes and on my face. I was dealing with something that really had me worried... I pray these issues dont return, but if they do I will make sure I visit the Upper Chesapeake ER.

Probably the absolute worst hospital I've ever been to and it sucks so much because this is the only one in the area for me. I've had back issues since 2017 that I stupidly stopped working with because I started to feel better. But I've recently been to the hospital for gallstones, a flare up of gallbladder pain. And my back a few times over the past few months. I had a scary occurrence at my PCP office yesterday which led them to calling 911. Already did blood work for my PCP which showed signs of infection, inflammation, bone marrow issues, dehydration or stress. I'm thinking more serious as a few of those markers have been high since May... I get trying to have a revolving door type of situation for instances of non emergency issues so there is room for life or death cases, but... If every scientific journal I read and my PCP both suggest emergency room visits, why am I being denied appropriate care. I had an MRI in 2021 and Feb if this year which indicated a progression in degenerative disease, herniated disc, mild spinal stenosis and I had an emg that suggested the muscles and nerves in my right leg are damaged quite a bit. I gave them ALL of my symptoms and was sent home with a numbing patch(did nothing), a muscle relaxer(which idek if it's doing anything for me as I wasn't feeling spasms as a symptom), and an opioid(hasn't touched the pain so why keep taking it?). I feel as though they don't actually listen to the needs of patients. Again I understand that when it comes to needing a specialist, all the ER can do is slap a band aid on it and help with the appropriate referrals. But my issues is all of the symptoms I went in with, accompanied by the fact that my pain level was through the roof(I'm usually pretty good with pain) and I was sent home without ANY FORM OF TESTING FROM THE HOSPITAL. No scans(not even an X-ray, which probably would have even been beneficial for my issue), no repeated blood work, no UA. Just seemed like there was no empathy or compassion and that's not okay when your entire job is to take care of others. 10/10 DO NOT recommended this hospital.
