- TBTeresa BovatJun 29, 20262.0Just totally disappointed, tech came to our house One month ago! When I inquired, about the progress, they gave me a story that they’re contacting the manufacturer about an issue. That’s not even wrong with my son‘s lift. So here I am at the office with the lift, showing them exactly what the problem is telling them they need to get a new one, ASAP! It keeps saying they have to get a hold of the manufacturer. To see what they say, if it could be fixed?? This is my third lift with the same issue it can’t be fixed, and another rocket scientist but I damn well know when the same issue occur It is going on six years old, the same as the two before which both had the same issues. So I am very annoyed because it takes over three months, before they even get started. Just very unhappy! My son has been through enough!!!!

Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
