- JDJoleen DugasApr 27, 20261.0I have been out of rehab since middle of February..while I was inside therapy someone from National Seating and Mobility came measure me for a custom wheelchair..today we are April 27th and still no chair..the lady that is in charge of sending script to Edna Inc has not sent it and I called multiple times and she doesn't call me back even I had my Inc call them and still no reply so I made a complaint with Edna and they have called and still no reply...they just told me she has 3 times n a row to call me back then they will take action .but I left other messages but they dont have records of that and so has my Inc and still no call back so still I have no wheelchair..i can only walk with my braces and they hurt sometimes ..I need a brake from them...they telling me they sent the script to my Inc in March but Edna has no record of it

How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?

Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
