Baptist Health's Infection Control Department is responsible for preventing and controlling the spread of infections in hospitalized patients. Infections acquired in a hospital are called nosocomial. Infections acquired in any healthcare environment - hospital, nursing home, outpatient clinic, surgery center or physician's office - are called healthcare-associated infections (HAI).
