  Terrible place to work! They pay $12/hour to care for vulnerable seniors. The conditions were horrible. They wanted to make sure that I returned to substitute teaching in the Manhattan area; a teaching position that no longer exists. As a matter of fact, not only did I leave Home Instead, and substitute teaching, I'm leaving the state of Kansas. That job was a waste of time, just like living in the state of KS. Good riddance!!

  I worked here for a little over a year and had a very frustrating experience. Hours were extremely inconsistent—some weeks I had full-time hours, while others dropped to as little as 10–15. They would cut hours over phone use, even when it was required for the job and necessary for client interaction. There were also days where I was expected to be on call all day without being paid. When concerns were brought up, nothing was ever addressed or resolved. Meanwhile, clients were charged excessive amounts, clearly taking advantage of the fact that they would likely pay it. Management expected employees to always be available, but when you needed to reach them, they were rarely responsive. Reviews and follow-ups took an unreasonable amount of time. I was even written up two weeks after calling off—four hours before my shift via email—for “unprofessional behavior,” despite there being no clear policy stating that wasn’t sufficient notice. Training was also inconsistent. At times, I was expected to work shifts without fully understanding care plans or proper safety procedures, which is unacceptable in this type of work. Overall, there was a serious lack of communication, consistency, and support for employees.

  This company is great. They have been responsive, dependable and trustworthy with their care. Tara is awesome and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better to help my grandparents!

  i can not say enough about how pleased my sister and I are with Home Instead! Every person we have interacted with has been caring and responsive. The team of caregivers who have been assigned to help our parents have been simply wonderful! They treat my parents with real concern, and work very hard to do everything for them, just exactly the way they would prefer it done. We worked briefly with another organization, and the difference is night and day! From our first contact with Home Instead we saw how organized and detailed they are. Meta in the office has been so lovely and has gathered so many details about my parents. This helps caregivers arrive prepared to support and connect with my parents. The entire process, including their contract and paperwork, the caregiver communication binder, their online portal, and their staff has been a great fit for our family. They are also very responsive to questions and requests. We really feel that our parents are cared for, and that we are being supported. It is such a relief to have Partners we can trust for our parents care!
