Vaccinations

Routine vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to keep yourself healthy. Our pharmacies provide annual flu vaccines, COVID-19 vaccinations, routine child and adult immunizations, catch-up vaccines and travel vaccines.

This vaccine protects against chickenpox, a disease caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults born in 1980 or later need two doses.

This vaccine protects against coronavirus. Depending on the manufacturer, up to two doses and a booster are currently recommended.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis A, an infection in the liver often spread by contaminated food and caused by hepatitis A virus. Adults traveling outside the country, those with chronic liver disease, and men who have sex with men need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis B, a blood-borne infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus. Adults with chronic health conditions and healthcare workers should get three doses of this vaccine.

This vaccine protects against HPV, the major cause of cervical cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts in both women and men. Adults age 9-26 need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against influenza, a contagious viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. Everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

This vaccine protects against the respiratory disease measles, the infectious disease mumps, and the viral disease rubella. Adults born in 1957 or later need at least one dose.

There are two types of meningococcal vaccines that protect against meningococcal disease, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis infections around the brain and spinal cord. All 11-12 year olds should get a meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a booster dose at 16 years old. People age 16-23 years also may get a serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.

These vaccines protect against pneumococcal disease, caused by bacteria leading to ear and sinus infections as well as more serious lung and blood infections. If you smoke, have heart disease, asthma, chronic lung disease, or are over 65 years old, you need at least one dose.

This vaccine protects against polio, a disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord and cause paralysis. Children are recommended to get one vaccine dose at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

This vaccine protects against shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults age 50 and older need two doses.

These vaccines protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis which are contagious bacterial diseases. Adults need one dose of Tdap, then a Td or Tdap booster every 10 years.

Physical & Wellness Screenings

Our pharmacies offer a number of wellness screenings to help detect and prevent certain diseases.

When you come in for a biometric screening, your provider will measure your height, weight and blood pressure. They will also test your blood glucose, and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) using a finger prick to obtain a blood sample. Before leaving you will have your results along with risk reduction counseling to help you achieve your optimum health. **Biometric Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Blood glucose measurement detects the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. High or low blood sugars could indicate a metabolic condition, such as diabetes.

Hemoglobin A1C measures your average blood glucose (sugar) over the past 90 days. An elevated hemoglobin A1C could indicate the presence of diabetes. **Hemoglobin A1C Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Cholesterol screening measures the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol screenings can detect conditions such as high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

I had been going to Kroger pharmacy for my medications for nearly 7 years until last month, since the other Kroger on the east side got shut down and this Kroger stopped using the outside walk up window every time I’d go to pick up my meds there’s either a line nearly clear across the store of people waiting to get their meds, and I’m Talking waiting for an hour + to get to the cashier to pay for their medications, or I’m told a medicine still isn’t ready hours or even a day after the script was faxed over and/or I was told by a tech they’d have it ready in X amount of time and I’d get there and it still not be ready, about the 6th time this happened I decided I can’t do that anymore, I live in fountain county and chose to stay with Kroger in Crawfordsville due to being with them for so many years, and I couldn’t keep driving all the way to Crawfordsville Kroger to pick my Meds up and have to stand in a line for 1+ hour(s) or be told sorry it’s gonna be an hour for pickup and then come back an hour later just to have to wait another 30-60 minutes to get through the line, I really pray they get this figured out because I know I’m not the only person that’s been affected by this nonsense & is just not able to wait that long or drive to wait that long and then leave without getting the meds! Kroger corporation needs to do whatever they can to help this location be more time efficient, clearly remodeling the pharmacy to make it more practical and organized for the technicians and the pharmacist didn’t do anything!

Yesterday I came in to pick up a prescription (that I had actually sent to a different pharmacy oops) and while waiting in line, I was asked if I would like a covid vaccine since there were 4 left. I was really excited to get one, especially since eligibility for my age group just opened up and I couldn't schedule my appointment sooner than next week, so to get it early was amazing! The check-in process was really simple and everyone working was very nice. Amy (I believe that was her name) gave me my shot, she was so personable and kind and talked with me through the shot that I was too distracted to even be anxious about the needle. All in all the process took maybe 20 minutes (plus the 15 that you need to wait around in case there are any adverse side effects). A really great experience, and a great team!

Just had a phenomenal experience this morning with them, and Mary specifically. My original script was called in to Brownsburg, as my Dr. is there. I thought I would be traveling through this weekend, so I filled my script with them. Well, plans changed, and I really didn't want to drive into B'burg just for the meds. I called C'ville and Mary called the pharmacy in B'burg and canceled it for me and had it filled in C'ville. Not only that, but I'm waiting on new insurance, so my script was going to be $139!!!! The rep at Kroger Brownsburg had told me about their script club type program. It is affiliated with GoodRX. I got on the computer and without even joining for a fee, I was able to bring my medication up. I then clicked on Kroger and was able to use this coupon and get it for only $18...for a 3 month supply. WOW! It was really that easy. Anyway, again, Mary was so helpful in getting me all taken care of, and I'm most appreciative. The GoodRX coupon was obviously a huge bonus. Sad how the drug companies play games with us, especially when I can get a $121 discount just by printing a piece of paper off the web.
