Physical therapy is a type of treatment utilized when disease, injury, or deformity makes it hard to move around and do everyday tasks. It helps you move better and may relieve chronic or neuropathic pain. Physical therapists are highly-educated, licensed health care professionals who can help patients reduce pain and develop, improve, or restore mobility using methods such as massage, heat treatment, stretching, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and exercise. The goal of physical therapy is to make daily tasks and activities easier. For example, it may help with walking, going up stairs, or getting in and out of bed. In addition, physical therapists work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

Speech therapy involves a Speech-Language Pathologist’s (SLP) assessment of speech, language, cognitive-communication, and oral/feeding/swallowing skills to identify types of communication problems (articulation; fluency; voice; receptive and expressive language disorders, etc.) and the best way to treat them.

Occupational therapy treatment focuses on helping people with a physical, sensory, or cognitive disability be as independent as possible in all areas of their lives. Occupational therapy can help kids with various needs improve their cognitive, physical, sensory, and motor skills and enhance their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment. Occupational therapists can evaluate kids’ skills for playing, school performance, and daily activities and compare them with what is developmentally appropriate for that age group.
