  Arika really listens to anything I ask her concerning my skin issues. She explains why I need certain treatments or Rxs, what they do and what I should expect. She took photos of two areas of concern so we can see how they heal the next time I have an appointment with her in 6 weeks. Arika is happy, serious and knowledgable. I am so happy she joined Core Dermatology! I would definately send friends or family members to her!

  I went to Core Dermatology in Peru for hair thinning and hair loss, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. My appointment with Dr. Wells lasted less than five minutes. I felt that my scalp and hair were not adequately examined before I was immediately diagnosed with AGA and prescribed minoxidil. She did not appear to thoroughly examine my scalp or hair, did not perform a scalp biopsy, and did not order any additional bloodwork. What was especially frustrating is that I had already had bloodwork done through my PCP specifically related to my concerns, yet that bloodwork was not reviewed with me during the appointment before my diagnosis was made and treatment was recommended. I tried the prescribed minoxidil three separate times and experienced what I believed to be an allergic reaction. I immediately contacted the office to report the reaction and asked if there was another treatment option. I was told the nurse needed to speak with the doctor and that she would call me right back. No one called me back. I eventually had to call the office again myself. In total, it took approximately nine weeks to get a response regarding the reaction I had reported. When I finally received a response, I was told there was no alternative treatment they could offer me without scheduling another appointment. I understand that another appointment may sometimes be necessary, but waiting nine weeks for a response after reporting a reaction to a medication was extremely frustrating. I went to a dermatologist because I wanted my hair loss properly evaluated. Instead, I felt that I received a very brief appointment, a diagnosis and treatment recommendation without my existing bloodwork being reviewed, and then very little follow-up when I reported a reaction to the medication. I expected a much more thorough evaluation and better communication from a dermatology office. Based on my experience, I would not return.

  We are incredibly grateful to have Dr. Taylor Wells caring for our toddler. Our children’s health is our highest priority, and after our experience with Dr. Wells, we are so happy she joined CORE and that families in our community now have access to her care. As a family of color, finding a provider who understands that our skin can present differently is incredibly important. Dr. Wells made us feel seen, heard, and empowered—not dismissed or deflated. She is kind, knowledgeable, has an amazing bedside manner, and truly takes the time to listen. An outstanding doctor and such an asset to our community. We feel very lucky to have her!

  I made an appointment for a skin screening. The billing department billed me for an office visit instead of a screening. I called to question about it, JC told me he would resubmit the claim to my insurance. They then billed my insurance company for both a screening and an office visit. I called back and they could not explain why after I called they bill my insurance company again and said that I called to have the charge added. I asked who calls to be billed more and they had no answer.
