  I received neuropsychiatric testing Connie May from this practice back in March 2026. It was a VERY negative experience. This is my experience with this practice: Extremely untimely: They originally told me on the phone it would be ~4-6 week wait for the results. Then Connie May, the provider, mentioned it will be 8 weeks. She did not answer messages I had sent prior to the 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, I finally got a response... that I would have to wait another week and promised it would be by the end of the week. She then didn't send it and ghosted my messages. I had to cancel a psychiatrist appointment because of this. It wasn't until 11 weeks I finally got the results. This was only after getting in touch with the owner Michael Athens. Who knows how long it would have been without this. Low quality results: The results were wildly inconsistent across the tests. One test mentioned I was 3rd percentile for processing speed while another said I was 98th percentile... there were many tests like this. Connie May specifically chose the low scores and ignored the high ones to push a narrative that was not representative of my neurocognitive symptoms. I was experiencing severe ADHD symptoms since childhood. She blamed this on my "low processing speed" causing "mental fatigue" (ignoring the multiple "exceptional" results in both speed and mental stamina measurements) and on my anxiety and depression. It didn't matter to her that my ADHD symptoms were not dependent on any depression/anxiety medication in the past and were largely consistent through my life. She also claims that I was "too impaired" to have ADHD and suggested I "exaggerated" my results. Also, In the results document, I was referred to as the wrong name at least once... I guess Connie May is copy and pasting HIPAA protected material without fully redacting client information. Cost: I was originally quoted $60 and I have this in writing. Now they are charging me >$300 for some unknown reason. They charge $20 for emails over 50 words and ~$43 per 7 mins on the phone. They charge this despite not valuing communication with their clients. Charging clients for such a poor level of communication is insulting. Disorganized: I originally mentioned I wanted a few additional tests included before our appointment and Connie May agreed. The day of the appointment, she completely forgot about that hadn't scheduled enough time to do them in the office. I had to then take ~2-3h at home to finish the test. I also had to reach out multiple times to even get the tests because the first time she didn't send them all.

  We work with two therapists at Athans and they are wonderful. They listen, don't judge and can relate to your experience. I highly recommend them.

  I highly recommend Athans and Associates! I refer to them often and have great confidence in their entire team of doctors. Dr. Michael Athans is incredibly kind, and he and his team have built a wonderful environment for healing, support, and care.

  I have know Dr. Athens for years, back to when we were both on staff at Lutheran General Hospital. He is a well established and respected Psychologist who has build a solid group practice that has sustained the test of time. Dr. Athens is a kind man with solid ethics and integrity. He has a passion for children and families helping them to thrive amidst competing variable in changing times. I would highly recommend him and his practice.
