According to an article released by Harvard Health Publishing, one-third of all women will experience alopecia (hair loss) at some point in their lifetime. Because female baldness is considered less socially acceptable than it is in men, the condition can bring about strong feelings of self-consciousness. Our medical team in Chicago is proud to offer surgical solutions, which typically generate more reliable, permanent results than over-the-counter treatments like minoxidil (Rogaine®). During our transplant procedures, we will take healthy hair follicles from another area of your scalp that is not affected by baldness and carefully transplant the hair follicles into the areas of concern. To ensure that your procedure is comfortable and carefully performed, treatments are typically performed over several sessions.
You don't have to live with the unsatisfying result of a previous treatment. You can take the first step towards experiencing natural-looking, permanent hair growth today. Dr. Konior is a world-renowned hair restoration surgeon with the advanced training and skills necessary to provide the best retreatment options available. He is joined by Dr. Nadimi, who came to our practice to learn the advanced techniques used by Dr. Konior.
If you are suffering from hair loss, know that you are not alone. It's estimated that 50 percent of all men and a third of women will experience androgenetic alopecia, or balding, at some point in their lives. While hair loss is common as we age, there is still a large amount of shame and negativity surrounding the topic. We are here not only to provide solutions, but to offer support and education on hair loss. Dr. Konior has been helping patients just like you treat their hair loss since opening his Chicago, IL, practice in 1996. Our team is passionate about giving patients the results they need to regain confidence in their appearance.
The Chicago Hair Institute is led by Dr. Konior, a leading hair restoration specialist who opened the practice in 1996. With nearly 30 years of experience, Dr. Konior has performed countless successful hair restoration procedures. Joined by Dr. Nadimi, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon and hair restoration specialist, the team has highly advanced knowledge of dermatology and cosmetic procedures.
Dr. Konior and Dr. Nadimi provide hair restoration treatment and a range of facial cosmetic surgeries and injectables to comprehensively enhance the appearance of the head and face. Our treatments are designed to address your areas of insecurity, boost your self-esteem, and improve your overall quality of life.
Follicular unit extraction dates back to the late 1930s when a doctor in Japan developed the technique. Since then, FUE methodology has evolved significantly and is now an effective, popular choice for surgical hair transplantation. Follicular units are hair follicles that contain one to four hairs. In an FUE hair transplant procedure, these units are extracted one at a time from the donor area. This procedure is very different from older hair transplant methods like elliptical strip harvesting, which removes an entire strip of skin that is then broken down into the individual follicular units. For patients who lack sufficient hair on the scalp for a donor site, FUE can also transplant body hair.
The fact that both of our hair transplant surgeons are also experts in facial plastic surgery can help you achieve results that exceed your expectations. Dr. Konior and Dr. Nadimi create natural-looking hairlines that seamlessly complement your hair system and your face.

Many of our transgender patients display typical male pattern baldness and hair loss that natural hair growth can not replace. Hair styling and surgical strategy can be combined to feminize your overall look while adding density to thinning or bald front, mid-scalp, and crown areas. Some patients do opt to purchase a feminine wig to hide hair loss, but this surgical solutions can offer more natural results. A woman's hairline is typically much lower than that of a man's. Ultra-refined follicular unit transplantation can reverse male recessed temples, resulting in a rounded, feminine appearance. The amount of hair transplants to achieve this look will be tailored to your eyebrow position and forehead shape.

What can cause hair loss in women?
Before a woman considers hair transplantation, our practice will first work to identify the cause of the hair loss. Those causes may include:

Common issues may include:

Visible Scarring
Widely Set Plugs
When should I consider hair loss retreatment?
Retreatment is a great option for those who:
Received Outdated Care
Are Unhappy with the Outcome
Did Not Receive Professional Care
Is blepharoplasty dangerous?
Eyelid surgery is a relatively low-risk procedure. However, there are some complications to be aware of. Bleeding and infection are possible with almost any surgery.
How long does it take to heal from blepharoplasty?
Most patients require several days or up to a week off of work until the bruising and swelling subsides. Dr. Nadimi will give you specific instructions regarding your recovery, such as using over-the-counter pain medication, ice, and artificial tears to reduce discomfort. After about a week, you will return to our office to have your stitches removed.
How much does rhinoplasty cost?
The actual cost of rhinoplasty depends on a variety of different factors. In general, however, a rhinoplasty typically costs between $5,000 and $10,000. The lower end of this range would include patients who need a fairly simple procedure and are not combining their surgery with another cosmetic procedure. The high end of this range can include patients who require a more complicated procedure—typically those who have suffered trauma and need some degree of reconstruction—as well as those who choose to combine their procedure with one or more additional procedures.
How long is the healing process after a rhinoplasty procedure?
About one month after surgery, most of the facial swelling will have subsided and patients can begin to see their results; however, it can take up to one year for your final nasal shape to become visible. The results of your nasal procedure will last a lifetime.
How common is hair loss?
One of the nation's leading medical centers, NYU Langone Health, reports that over 80 percent of men and nearly half of women experience significant hair loss at some point in their lives.
Do hair transplants grow hair permenantly?
Yes. During hair transplant surgery, we move follicles of hair from the donor area on the back and sides of the head to the areas that are thinning. The transplanted hair will continue to grow for life as long as the donor hair remains vigorous and viable. In addition to providing hair transplants, our surgeons can advise you on key actions to take to maintain hair vitality.
Is hair restoration covered by insurance?
Hair restoration that's performed for purely cosmetic reasons is not covered by health insurance. If you've lost hair as a result of an accident or injury, you may be eligible for some insurance coverage. Be sure to check with your provider, as coverage can vary.
How long do hair restoration results last?
The lifespan of your hair restoration results will differ based on the treatment you selected. Minoxidil and finasteride benefits will last as long as patients use these medications. Surgical treatments have long-lasting and potentially lifelong results, particularly when the grafts are taken from the right donor area of the scalp.
How much does FUE cost?
Follicular unit extraction is a much more technical, time-consuming type of hair transplant, so it is generally more expensive than alternative methods of hair restoration. The price varies from patient to patient and will be shaped by your degree of hair loss, your hair growth goals, and your desired timeline. The best way to get an initial estimate is to schedule a virtual consultation with our Chicago team.
How long is the recovery process for an FUE procedure?
Unlike most other hair restoration methods, recovery from an FUE procedure is relatively quick. The procedure and recovery involve far less discomfort than other procedures as well. Because the donor area is shaved for the procedure, results are gradual and usually take about six months to become fully apparent.
How does a facelift work?
A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is one of the most effective surgical procedures available to combat signs of aging. This plastic surgery can effectively address many age-related changes, including deep lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, and pronounced jowls.
How long does a facelift procedure take?
A typical facelift takes two to four hours.
What is the recovery process for a forehead reduction?
Forehead reduction recovery is relatively quick. In general, most patients can return to work in about seven days after hairline lowering surgery. Dr. Nadimi will discuss post-op surgical instructions in more detail during your consultation.
Will there be a visable scar after hairline lowering?
No. With forehead reduction surgery, the scar is not only hidden in the hair, but hair will grow through the scar, making it even more inconspicuous.
What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is composed of purified botulinum toxin, a substance that prevents your muscles from receiving signals sent by nerves. While botulinum toxin sounds intimidating, it’s safe when injected by a professional in small doses. By blocking the signals to your muscles, BOTOX injections can relax the surrounding muscles and smooth out wrinkles or lines.
At Chicago Hair Institute, we use BOTOX Cosmetic, the top botulinum toxin treatment specially made to target wrinkles and creases around the face.
When will I see the results of my BOTOX treatment?
BOTOX starts working immediately, and many patients start to see results as soon as they leave our office after the treatment.
What is JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC?
VOLUMA XC is a dermal filler similar to Restylane® — both are composed of hyaluronic acid. Molecules of hyaluronic acid occur naturally within the body, making this dermal filler safer than synthetic fillers.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is the only dermal filler approved by the FDA to treat volume loss in the cheek area. If you are interested in smoothing wrinkles on your face, Dr. Nadimi will be happy to discuss other injectable options.
How long does VOLUMA XC last?
The VOLUMA XC version of JUVÉDERM is the longest-lasting dermal filler available. On average, results can last up to two years for most patients.
