DO NOT WORK WITH ADDUS if you get a say in it.
I honestly wish I could give zero stars, but unfortunately, Google doesn't allow that. I don't recommend Addus to ANYONE, no matter how bad things are or how desperate you are.
Unfortunately, we were forced to work with them as foster parents. The employee they gave us to handle the transportation/supervision for the visits was phenomenal. Very kind, great at communicating, compassionate, etc. (Edna, YOU ROCK). She is not part of the problem.
The problem is scheduling and their unwillingness to work with their clients. You will NEVER have a consistent schedule when dealing with Addus. Scheduling will change last minute (sometimes the day of) and you can never make plans in advance for anything because you have no idea when Addus will text saying "hey, change of plans for tomorrow's visit, it's being moved to Saturday, that's that, non-negotiable". And when they present a schedule to you - it is not up for discussion. Anything pre-planned?? Pre-paid for?? Count is as lost. Because when Addus says "jump" you better say "how high?". It's Addus's way, or the highway.
Addus is part of the reason the Foster Care system is lacking DECENT and CAPABLE foster parents. Their lack of flexibility (even though YOU are expected to be insanely flexibile with them), the lack of timely communication, constant change in scheduling, etc. is seriously painful.
So now instead of spending Saturday's enjoying time away from school, work, daycare, and home responsibilities TOGETHER - we will all be sitting at home waiting for a visit that may or may not happen. A MASSIVE disservice to children in the foster care system.
Despicable.
Addus will claim the issue is being "short staffed". That is NOT the issue - the issue is lack of flexibility, selfishness, disrespect, poor communication, and a lack of having capable individuals in charge of scheduling. All management related. Unpopular opinion: that is no longer a sufficient excuse in today's world. EVERYONE is short staffed. FIGURE IT OUT.
The other reviews speak volumes. CLEARLY this has been a consistent issue at Addus and these reviews are obviously NOT taken into consideration. So, I get that I'm probably wasting my time here, but worth it if saves someone else the headache of working with Addus...

My husband uses addus, we got the approval through V.A. as he is a disabled veteran.
His, aid is amazing! I have nothing bad to say about his aid.
However, management is very difficult to work with. They like to change times, without notice. We schedule all my husband's doctors appt around his aid, and when addus changes the times without notice it makes things very difficult.
Management doesn't have the respect to call there clients to let them know, or even to ask if it's okay to change the schedule, or to even return calls.
I feel so bad for the aids also, to have to put up with thus.
Again, the aid is amazing and goes above and beyond. Management has been horrible!

does no good to write a review, cause they hide them anyway. furthermore the state covers for them. if they were more professional with their employees they surely would not always be short staffed.

This company is unable to operate with any consistency. Many times, you, as a client, are simply not told that your worker wasn't coming. The workers are good, but their management needs to be replaced asap. My last worker took me to WalMart and spent the next two hours sitting on my couch telling me her troubles. I had Addus cancel her, but as long as the federal government pays unemployed people $500 PLUS their unemployment check and a LINK card, they will continue to have problems finding workers.
