  We absolutely love Crystal Lake Pediatric! The doctor and his entire staff are amazing. They are always so welcoming, friendly, and in such a great mood. Everyone is incredibly sweet, kind, and patient with my kids, which makes every visit a positive experience. We have been going here for 5 years, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the care they provide. Before coming here, my kids were actually afraid of going to the dentist, but the staff here completely changed that. They have built such a comfortable and trusting environment that my kids no longer have that fear and actually feel comfortable going to their appointments. You can truly tell that they care about their little patients, not just as patients but as children. ❤️ I highly recommend Crystal Lake Pediatric to any parent looking for a pediatric dentist. Amazing doctor, amazing staff, and amazing care! 🦷💙

  I left this appointment feeling completely disrespected, judged, and devastated. I am normally very open and rarely cry, but this experience left me in tears. My 4-year-old son was referred here by his primary dentist after two cavities were identified. His primary dentist had specifically commented on how well we care for his teeth. My son also has developmental and sensory needs, which I explained when scheduling. I was told we could schedule a sensory appointment where I could stay with him. From the beginning, I felt pressured to leave even though my son was clearly nervous. He eventually hid under the dental chair and behind me—something I have never seen him do at a dental appointment. I was then told my son had a much higher number of cavities than the two his primary dentist had identified. When I asked which teeth were affected and how severe they were, I received very little explanation. Instead, the conversation quickly focused on his diet, including milk, juice, and even Goldfish. I left feeling judged and blamed rather than educated. The examination was especially upsetting. My son was sitting on my lap, and the dentist positioned himself knee-to-knee with me and had my son lay his head in his lap. My son was clearly uncomfortable being positioned that way with a man he had never met. When my son initially wouldn’t open his mouth, I watched the dentist push his fingers toward my son’s mouth in an attempt to open it, which frightened him further. I then explained to my son what was happening and asked him to open his mouth so the dentist could look at his teeth. He immediately cooperated. That was incredibly frustrating because it showed me that my son wasn’t incapable of cooperating—he simply needed someone to take the time to communicate with him in a way he understood. They also attempted another X-ray. My son was nervous but was actually cooperating and holding still when the equipment was accidentally dropped onto him. I understand accidents happen, and I did not make an issue of it. However, he was understandably crying afterward, and it was upsetting to see the situation treated as though he simply wasn’t cooperating when he had actually been trying. I also left without the answers I needed about his treatment. I asked which teeth needed treatment, how severe the cavities were, and what exactly was being recommended, but I received very little explanation. I requested copies of his X-rays so his primary dentist can review them, and I will be getting a second opinion. The most heartbreaking part was when my son came home and called him the “mean boy doctor” and said he didn’t want to go back. My son has limited speech, so when he communicates something that clearly, I listen. I will not be returning. I understand that children with sensory or developmental needs can require extra patience, and I understand that accidents happen. What I cannot accept is the lack of communication, compassion, and respect shown toward my son and me as his parent. I strongly encourage parents, especially those with children who have sensory or developmental needs, to ask very specific questions about how a practice actually handles sensory appointments before choosing them. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this office.

  It’s honestly disappointing that my previous review was removed, because my experience with this office was very poor. To be clear, my issue was not with the front desk staff—it was with the doctor. My son had a crown placed, and three days later he began having problems with the tooth, including continued bleeding. Since it was the weekend, I paged the provider. I was initially told to give it an hour for the bleeding to stop. After an hour, the bleeding had not stopped, so I paged the doctor again. He asked me, “What do you want to do?” I explained that I wanted my son evaluated and taken care of because he could not go through the weekend with his mouth continuing to bleed. The doctor then asked me to meet him at his office, which was about 10 minutes away. When we arrived, he took my son to the back, and I went with him. He again asked me, “So, what do you want me to do?” At that point, I was extremely frustrated. As a parent, I expect a medical professional to assess the situation, explain what is happening, and recommend the appropriate treatment—not ask the parent to determine what should be done. I understand that complications can happen, but it is how those complications are handled that matters. I expected my son to receive proper care and for me to feel confident that he was in the hands of a professional. Unfortunately, that was not my
