  As a nationwide member & not being from chicago, Im grateful to have the opportunity to experience the culture within every ymca throughout the nation. At the stony island location as i walked in, i felt uneasy. Firstly was an awkward security check, with no verbal communication. Then i had to run a borrowed parking pass out to my car - even though they have a secure parking lot? The rooms are all labeled by unclear paper signs - yet there are monitors above each doorway. To add, you cannot enter any locker room, sauna, or gym. Unless you stop at the front desk to ask for a blue lanyard¿though that should've been communicated at the time of check in. Anyway, we ended up going to Rauner family location. Much more safe it seems! Quiet too!

  My family is nationwide. We Walked into the security having to Check out bags. Eye am honestly not a fan of that for my children and them having to be exposed to that. It gave off the vibe that the place isn’t that safe. We stayed anyway. The ladies at the front counter were kind. Tbh the best part for me was the sista at child watch and our discussion about my sun. It’s smaller than what we’re used to. Overall it was a good experience. We probably won’t be back because eye dont want my children to have to get used to that security check.
