Salcedo Medical Center and Vein Institute Accommodates a Wide Variety of Patients Hector L. Salcedo, MD and his team of medical professionals offer a variety of treatments that focus on general health, wellness, and aesthetics. With years of experience as a Family Medicine physician, Dr. Hector L. Salcedo develops long-lasting partnerships with his patients as they seek guidance to achieve optimal health. Unlike other medical specialties where the focus is on a specific type of disease or part of the body, Family Medicine treats a broad array of medical conditions across all ages and gender. At Salcedo Medical Center, we go the extra mile for your health needs. What is a Family Medicine Physician? A family medicine physician serves as the family's main doctor in many cases. They care for patients of the same family that range from newborns to "super senior" status. The family doctor has extensive experience in general medicine, which means that they can treat most medical conditions. When a patient is ill or has any type of health concern, their family physician is usually the primary point person. Therefore, the family care doctor is often designated as the primary care provider (PCP) for insurance purposes. Some conditions do require a specialist which is determined and facilitated by the family doctor, if necessary. What Conditions Can a Family Physician Help With? A family physician can help with a wide variety of conditions, illnesses, and concerns. These include: Diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol levels, respiratory illnesses, depression, anxiety, skin problems, common colds, flu, ear infections, and virtually all types of illnesses that impact children through adulthood. When Does a Patient Require Care From a Specialist? The patient and family medicine physician can discuss medical issues together to determine whether a visit with a specialist is necessary. For example, a patient who suffers from a possible neurological issue can be referred to a neurologist. Similarly, patients who require bone surgery for an injury or condition can be referred to an orthopedic surgeon. In some cases, care with a specialist will only be temporary. Chronic conditions can require regular visits with a specialist. During this time, the patient will continue to go to the family care physician for the remainder of their health care needs. The family doctor typically coordinates this care. Looking for a Family Medicine Physician You Can Trust? Choose Dr. Salcedo! Dr. Salcedo and his staff members are here to support you no matter what. We are devoted to creating optimal health outcomes for all of our patients, placing an emphasis on developing long-lasting relationships. We are with you for the long haul! Only Cynosure®'s ThreeForMeTM laser treatments address three common skin concerns in one treatment-wrinkles, stretch marks, facial vessels, pigmentation and sun damage - all within one procedure. The procedure is only 30 minutes and has minimal downtime, getting you the best results possible while still fitting within your busy schedule. Our experts at Salcedo Medical Center and Vein Institute can help you return to a youthful look with state-of-the-art Cynosure® laser technology. We will develop a personalized treatment plan that best reflects the outcome you are looking for. Our experts offer Cynosure® laser treatments for the following conditions: Acne Scars Fine Lines and Wrinkles Hair Removal Stretch Marks Reduction Skin Revitalization Sun Damage and Brown Spots Surgical Scars How It Works The IconTM technology, is exclusive to the clinically-proven Cynosure® laser treatments, and is performed in two steps: The first step addresses the target area using an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology. • The second step addresses the condition using a "microbeam" laser technology to stimulate collagen and elastin production - the keys to the support structure of our skin. The body's natural healing process then rebuilds the tissue, with even texture and fewer wrinkles. Combining these technologies provides the benefits of both in less time - giving you the younger-looking skin you want, only sooner! What to Expect You will see continued improvement in the skin's appearance during and after a course of 1-3 treatments with visible results after each individual treatment. You may see results in facial veins immediately after the treatment along with a darkening of the brown spots. These spots will flake off over the next one to three weeks leaving you with a glowing appearance. Lastly, you will see progressive results on any fine lines, wrinkles or scarring over the next six months as your skin naturally responds to the treatment. Depending on your individual case and the laser used, some people are satisfied after only one treatment session. Others may need additional sessions. Our team of experts prioritize client care, and make every treatment atmosphere comfortable and as pain-free as possible. FAQ's What types of pigment can be treated? Cynosure® laser treatments are effective at reducing and eliminating age spots, sun damage, and freckles on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Is there downtime? Depending on the treatment plan, there is minimal to no down time for this kind of treatment. One of our experts will help determine a personalized care plan depending on your goals. Do vein treatments hurt? Our team does their absolute best to ensure you are comfortable and as pain free as possible during treatments. Our patients sometimes describe tingling or the snap of a rubber band during the treatment. What kinds of results can I expect with hair removal? A Cynosure® laser treatment is effective at eliminating hair in a target area. Expect to see a gradual reduction in hair thickness and in the amount of hair present in the area. You may also see a reduction in stubble, rashes, and even ingrown hairs. Take Years Off Your Appearance With Cynosure® Laser Treatments At Salcedo Medical Center and Vein Institute Want to love your appearance again? Experts at Salcedo Medical Center & Vein Institute understand women's unique physical and emotional needs at every stage and age in life. That is why it provides high quality women's care including health, weight loss, nutrition, skin care, check-ups and pap smears. FAQs What is a Pap Smear? A pap smear is a test that checks for the presence of cervical cancer by looking for cancerous and precancerous cells in the cervix area. It can also find any other abnormalities including cysts and signs of disease. This can be very sensitive and uncomfortable for some women, however, at Salcedo Medical Center & Vein Institute, Dr. Salcedo completes this examination in the most professional and respectful manner, and there is always a female nurse present. Who Should Have a Pap Smear? Sexually active women should have pap smears, even if they haven't been sexually active in a long time. Nearly every woman will need to have a pap smear. A pap smear is the best way of detecting the signs of cervical cancer early, as well as other health problems, making it a very important test for nearly all women. What is the Pap Smear Process? During a pap smear, the patient will disrobe from the waist down, using a sheet for coverage. The doctor will then have the patient place their feet in stirrups on the exam table. The doctor will then insert a speculum, a small medical instrument used for dilation, into the vagina. The cervix will then be gradually opened up until the doctor can obtain a small sample of cells from the cervical opening, using a swab. The swab will then be sealed in a sterilized bag to be sent for testing. A pap smear should be done every 3 years or 5 years depending on the age and health of the woman. Dr. Salcedo can help you determine how often you should be getting your pap smear. Is There Any Recovery Time After a Pap Smear? No, a pap smear is a quick test that requires no recovery time. Most patients are able to return to their usual routine right away afterward. How Long Does it Take to Get The Pap Smear Test Results? The physician will let each patient know how long it will take to get their results. The office will contact patients as soon as their results are ready. If the pap smear is abnormal, the doctor will need to see the patient for another appointment. What Does an Abnormal Pap Smear Mean? An abnormal pap smear usually indicates the presence of HPV or another health concern. These conditions often resolve on their own. There are also cases where the HPV must be treated to prevent it from eventually turning into cancer. An abnormal pap smear does not always mean that cancer is present. Dr. Salcedo and his team will usually schedule a biopsy to determine whether treatment needs to be pursued when an abnormal pap smear result occurs. We Are Available for Routine Check-Ups, weight management, Pap Smears, or any other need you might have. Contact Salcedo Medical Center & Vein Institute Today! We offer multiple treatments that allow men to look and feel years younger while maintaining their optimal health. Some of the treatment areas we focus on are: Testosterone Replacement Therapy Are you experiencing low testosterone? Testosterone levels peak in your teenage years and begin to level off by the age of 30. That's right - low hormone levels aren't just something for middle-aged guys to worry about! But what are the symptoms of low testosterone? Low testosterone can cause a wide range of issues if you aren't careful. This can include, but is not limited to: • Erectile dysfunction and other sexual health problems • Increased body fat • Fatigue • Mood changes • Decreased muscular strength • Poor cognitive function Testosterone Replacement Therapy Isn't Just for Older Men Men will typically experience these symptoms in their 40s, but it's not uncommon for some men to have these issues as early as in their 30s. Don't assume that you're a young guy who doesn't need to worry about testosterone! The solution to a testosterone deficiency is TRT, or Testosterone Replacement Therapy. We source premium grade testosterone and administer it into your body after we determine that you're a good fit for the therapy. This can include asking you about your health problems and any history of cancer or heart disease. Erectile Dysfunction Treatments According to Harvard Health, erectile dysfunction affects up to 30 million American men. The condition affects older males more frequently than younger males. However, sexual dysfunction also occurs in younger males. This causes stress and anxiety for many men, as well as putting a strain on intimate relationships. Types of Sexual Dysfunction in Men: Erectile dysfunction: A common problem with many causes, including diabetes, high blood pressure, or even low libido. It can even be psychological, due to depression, stress, and fatigue. . Low libido: It's just as common in men as it is with women. For men, this can also be a case of a decline in hormone levels, physical illness, and even as a result of medical side effects. Ejaculation problems: Premature, delayed, or even no ejaculation may be a result of hormone imbalances, stress, or anxiety. .While there are many symptoms of sexual dysfunction, there are also ways to treat it. At Salcedo Medical Center, we offer a variety of treatments to manage and cure erectile dysfunction. We employ multiple treatment modalities based on the patient's needs; from restoring optimum male hormone levels to increasing circulation and addressing underlying medical conditions. Hair Loss Hair loss is a surprisingly prevalent concern in our society. Notably, it is stated that by the age of 35, two-thirds of American men will experience some degree of appreciable hair loss. Furthermore, by the age of 50, approximately 85% of men have significantly thinning hair. While not a concern for some men, others experience emotional distress and loss of confidence due to hair loss. Additionally, hair loss tends to age a person's appearance. For those looking to restore their youthful appearance and image, Salcedo Medical Center offers proven hair loss treatments. Utilizing a combination of laser therapies and lifestyle management, including nutritional testing, and counseling - we are able to slow the loss and even encourage regrowth of your hair. General Dermatology Procedures Dr. Salcedo offers skin cancer screenings in addition to removal of moles, lipomas, cysts, and skin tags. Dr. Salcedo also provides treatments of eczema, psoriasis, warts and other diseases of the skin, nails and hair. Cryosurgery Dr. Salcedo performs this treatment in his office. This technique consists on the destruction of skin lesions by using cold application of liquid nitrogen using open or closed spray techniques. Cryosurgery is often used to remove skin tissues like: warts, actinic keratoses, precancerous conditions, cryoprobes (xanthelasma, sebaceous hyperplasia - oily glands) or keloids (intralesional cryosurgery). Biologic Therapy Use of special medications called "biologics" that work as immune modulators for the treatment of moderate to severe psoriasis. These medications are usually in the form of injections given on the weekly, be- weekly or three-monthly intervals which could provide significant relief in properly chosen patients. The risk-benefit ratio has to be addressed individually with each patient due to potentially severe adverse effects. Electrosurgery We use electricity to cause thermal destruction of tissue through dehydration, coagulation, or vaporization for the destruction of skin lesions like hemangiomas, xanthelasmas, warts, or facial capillaries and skin tags. We employ effective, individualized treatment plans for all of our patients. If you present any of these symptoms or have any concerns - count on Dr. Salcedo to take care of you! Contact us today.

Throughout childhood, our bodies are rapidly changing and maturing. This is a critical time for us, as we are still developing cognitively, physically, and emotionally. Health conditions during this time can leave a lasting effect for the entire life. This is why it is crucial to have a Pediatric Care physician that you can count on. Dr. Salcedo possesses years of experience in Family Medicine and Pediatric Care. Our team understands that our minors need superior quality care for their optimal development. How Often Should a Child See the Doctor? Pediatric care visits need to happen on a regular basis. Newborns have their first visit between 3 and 5 days after being born. The second visit is typically scheduled when the baby is 1 month old, followed by 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and a year old. After a child's first birthday visit, they will normally return to the doctor at 15 months, 24 months, 30 months, and 3 years of age. As a child reaches their third birthday, they'll usually transition into yearly visits. These visits are typically known as "well-child" visits and are much like wellness visits for adults. What Happens During a Well Child Visit? A well-child visit is a time for the doctor to check in with their young patient. The doctor will evaluate their health as a whole and will discuss milestones and health concerns with the child's parents at this time. Parents can bring up concerns and questions which may the doctor identify emerging issues. Overall, a well-child visit is an excellent way to help parents keep their kids as healthy and happy as possible. Do Children Really Need to Have Vaccinations? Vaccinations are highly recommended. Vaccines can prevent a number of serious and possibly fatal diseases and health problems. The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention has a specific recommended vaccination schedule. The physician follows the recommended schedule except in unusual health situations. Vaccinations can prevent children from suffering from diseases like mumps, measles, chickenpox, flu, and hepatitis, along with many others. Looking for a Devoted Pediatric Care Doctor? As we age, our skin starts losing its elasticity. Your body produces less collagen, leading to dry skin and the formation of wrinkles. However, Salcedo Medical Center & Vein Institute offers treatments designed to offset the effects of aging while restoring a more youthful and vibrant appearance. We are trained experts in the use of Botox® and Juvederm® What is Botox Used For? Botox® Botox® is a wrinkle relaxing injection that is approved by the U. S. Food & Drug Administration. This treatment is used to relax the fine lines and wrinkles in the face, particularly in the forehead and eye area. Horizontal lines across the forehead, vertical lines between the brows, and lines fanning out from the edges of the eyes (the crow's feet) can all be treated very successfully with Botox®. How Does Botox® Work? Botox® works by freezing the muscles that create wrinkles. When injected into very specific areas, the impacted muscles will not be able to contract like they usually do. This means that lines get smoothed away and that the patient won't be able to keep making the movements that will cause the wrinkles to come back. What is Botox® Made From? Botox® contains an active ingredient known as botulinum toxin protein. While botulinum toxin protein could be dangerous in very large quantities, this protein is highly purified to be completely safe for use in the human body. Because the quantity used is so small there is a minimal chance of any side effects.
