Let me start by saying I have been here before and have had great experiences, but my 10 minute interraction with the staff today has completely made me change my mind on ever coming back. I was looking to order another 3 months supply of contacts with Pearle Vision Old Town but needed about a weeks supply to hold me over until the order arrived. I told the front desk staff I would need about a weeks worth of contacts, and the Napoleon Dynamite character told me that my prescription has “expired” and I would need to see the doctor before he could give me any contacts. This surprised me as I have done this in the past (around 10 years) and all offices have been happy to let me have some to tide me over. I made an appointment for my next time available (2 weeks from now) and I asked if there’s anyway I just could have some for the week until my order arrives. He shrugged his shoulders smiled and said “don’t know what to tell you, can’t help you”. He then said he would go ask the doctor if he approves this, I told him I would happily wait. He comes out, hands me a 5 day supply of and said “Luckily I’m feeling nice today”. After walking home and letting all of this settle I realized how unprofessional all of this really was. Tone, attitude, dismissiveness, all of it. As someone who works in front of a clinic, I have a level of awareness of how to treat patients, especially patients who find themselves in a tough spot. I called to cancel my appointment and was hung up on twice, the third time was picked up and I told them I had an appointment on x date, a woman answered with an attitude and said “okay what do you want to do with it? Confirm? cancel?” I said “ I would like to cancel” and said “okay canceled” but she never asked my name. I brought this up to her. Which tells me this hostility over the phone was because she knew I was the same patient who was in the door 10 minutes ago by my phone number. All in all, again, I’ve been in hospitality across multiple industries for 9 years and now work front desk at a medical clinic. As front desk the way you relate, empathize and use emotional intelligence reveals the level of professionalism you have as a staff. And this is all a reflection of the doctor. I don’t have a problem with the hesitation of giving me contact samples, I get it, what I do have a problem with is the lack or care offered to me during my 10 minute interaction time with the staff. There are so many clinics in Chicago and in this case I am lucky to have the luxury of choosing whether to be taken care of people like this, or choosing better for myself. I hope anyone reading this chooses better for themselves.

Kiara is very sweet, professional, and caring, and Dr. Galkina answered all of my concerns alongside being encouraging about continuing our channel of communication. Overall, great team here that have your best interests in mind!
