I recently had an exam here. The eye doctor. Dr. Rafael, kept going on about how progressive and bad my cataract had become. She kept going on like I was having a medical emergency and needed surgery immediately. She kept pushing a referral for a nearby UIH eye surgery clinic and even said I needed to go there today. Now I am fully aware of my cataract issue, but my distance sight is no where near the point where I need immediate surgery. I see fine but it has gotten somewhat worse, but not to that point. I told her i did not have insurance and that i could not have the surgery at this time and that it would be 100 percent out of pocket. What I needed and she failed to provide was a referral for a new prescription. There was no real need for immediate surgery. She did not give me a prescription or even talk about that as an option but kept pushing me to go to this eye surgery clinic nearby. It was obvious to me that she probably had some connection to them and may be getting something in return for every referral she makes. I found thier doctor to be dishonest and pushing me to do something which I clearly did not need or want. Horrible service no ability to listen to the concerns and needs of the patient. An update as of 8-6-2026: I had an exam at Warby Parker on Rush street. The doctor also knew of my cataract issue but agreed that I could get and needed a new perscription to deal with the change in my sight over the past year and that it would be fine. He agreed that maybe in the next year or so I may need to look at surgery depending on the movement of the cataract. There was no honest reason for the doctor at Lens Crafters to deny me a new perscription, the doctor at Lens Crafters simply wanted to push her own agenda.

Niya was very helpful when I brought my glasses in to get fixed. One of the screws came loose and she fixed the screw and cleaned the glasses.

John was absolutely outstanding. I went in for a repair to my glasses and John identified the issue immediately and fixed my glasses within minutes. He was extremely personable and had a lovely disposition. I'm looking forward to continued interactions with John and making this location my "go-to" for future purchases of new glasses and sunglasses.

Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters

How do I know if my child needs glasses?

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
