- KKkeresa KeresaApr 27, 20262.0Jewel-Osco has always been one of my favorite places to shop, especially on Mondays for the discounted chicken. I truly enjoy the wide variety of food items and the overall shopping experience. However, I am extremely concerned about the level of hygiene in the deli department. The sanitary practices are consistently very poor, and I am surprised that more customers have not reported these issues. Staff members rarely use tongs to handle meat, they seldom change their gloves, and I have witnessed the same gloves being used to pick up garbage and sweep the floor then immediately handle food. They did not wash their hands at all As someone with a Food Manager’s License, I can confidently say that the level of cross‑contamination and airborne contamination risk is alarmingly high. In fact, I have gotten sick twice with diarrhea after eating chicken purchased from the deli. I didn’t even know the food was contaminated until I ate it. I am respectfully requesting that proper food‑safety training be provided to the deli staff as soon as possible. These concerns are serious, and addressing them will protect both customers and your store's reputation. I will definitely be reporting them this time around
