Very unhappy with this location. This was my first and last time going to LensCrafters in Algonquin.
The check-in staff and the optician were excellent very professional, pleasant, and helpful. I truly have nothing negative to say about them.
My low rating is due entirely to the sales associate who handled my glasses purchase. Before my appointment, I confirmed that LensCrafters accepted my insurance, and I provided all my insurance information at check-in. After my exam, I was taken to the sales area and assisted by a blonde woman with glasses. She helped me look at frames and eventually brought me to her desk to review options. To her credit, she did recommend a pair of frames I ended up liking.
However, when she gave me the total, it was over $300 almost $400. She listed multiple add-ons that had been included without my approval, including a protection plan. I asked her to remove everything except the most basic options, which brought the total down to around $168. That felt more reasonable, so I agreed to move forward.
She then asked for my phone number for shipping updates. The main reason I chose LensCrafters was because they advertise same-day glasses, so I was surprised when she told me my glasses would not be ready that day. She explained that only certain lenses qualify for same-day service and said she could apply a 50% coupon if I upgraded to a different lens option, bringing the total to around $198.
At that point, I told her again that I already had frames I liked and would rather wait to have lenses put into those than continue with the purchase. I ultimately decided not to buy glasses in-store that day. During checkout, I paid only $10 for my exam, which clearly showed my insurance benefits were active and covering most of the visit. At no point did she provide pricing using my insurance benefits for the glasses themselves.
Later that day, I checked the LensCrafters website myself. I entered the exact same frames, my prescription, and my insurance information. My total including all the add-ons and the protection plan came out to only $98.
I called the store and spoke with the store manager, who was very pleasant and encouraged me to come back and purchase through the store directly. Unfortunately, after that experience, I no longer felt comfortable doing so. I ordered the glasses online instead and received them within four days.

Rubi and the dr were incredible. I had an excellent experience at LensCrafters thanks to the amazing customer service I received. The employees who assisted me were professional, patient, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. They took the time to answer all my questions, helped me find the perfect pair of glasses, and made sure I was comfortable with my choices. Their friendly attitude and attention to detail really stood out. I truly appreciate the outstanding service and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What should I bring to my eye exam?
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
