I chose this dental office very intentionally, and the experience ended up being extremely disappointing. Before I ever made the 35-minute drive from Boise to Caldwell, I verified multiple times that this office was IN NETWORK with my insurance. Their website listed them as being in network, and I confirmed it again over the phone before scheduling the appointment. The only reason I chose them instead of one of the many dentists five minutes from my house in Boise was because of that confirmation and because their website mentioned whitening options for children, which was something I was interested in discussing for my son. My son and I both had dental work done there. Over the course of two visits spanning several months, I have already paid nearly $1,000 out of pocket, under the assumption that it was contributing to my deductible and coinsurance. Only on the **second visit**, after work had already been completed (which I also debate the legitimacy of because my son and I both have never had so many cavities filled in our lives - I am meticulous about dental care and always have been) was I finally told at the front desk that they were actually OUT OF NETWORK with my insurance. By that point the work had already been done, I'm standing at the desk with my mouth fully numb and the financial impact had already occurred. Then weeks went by and I received a new bill in the mail requesting another $600. When I questioned how this could happen after confirming it multiple times beforehand, the front desk staff member told me, *“We do our best to let people know if they're not in network.”* I was outraged and kindly asked that they reconsider the bill as not informing someone that they are out of network is highly unethical. Respectfully, that is not something patients should have to hope a dental office “does their best” to communicate. Verifying insurance network status is a basic responsibility of the front desk staff, especially when patients specifically ask about it before scheduling and before driving a significant distance. To make matters worse, the bill continued to **INCREASE over time even without additional appointments or new treatment**, and it has now been sent to collections for over $1,000. Had I been told the truth up front - or had the insurance information been verified correctly - I simply would have chosen one of the many dentists near my home that actually was in network. Patients deserve accurate information before committing to treatment, not surprise bills months later.

Frequently Asked Questions About Blaisdell Dental Center

When should you start brushing a baby's teeth?

It's advisable to begin a dental health routine for your baby as early as possible. Maintaining healthy baby teeth prevents dental issues in infancy and establishes lifelong oral care habits. While newborns don't have teeth, they develop them rapidly. The first tooth typically appears around six months, though it can emerge as early as four months. This marks the beginning of teething, which can be uncomfortable for the baby and challenging for parents.

How do dentists recommend you choose a toothbrush?

Dental professionals advise brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste. Fluoride enhances enamel strength and promotes healthier teeth, with regular use increasing fluoride levels in saliva. While dentists generally don't express a preference between manual and powered toothbrushes, they often utilize powered models in their practices.
