- RJRaymond JohnstonAug 5, 20265.0My daughter was having troubles with her jaw feeling out of place/locked when waking up in the morning until she could "get it to pop back in place". This quickly progressed to a point where she could not get it to pop and was having troubles chewing and opening her mouth wide enough to eat a sandwich. I did the normal web searches and started by booking a dentist appointment to rule out any issues there. While the dentist didn't find anything they could treat, they referred me to Rock Valley in Grimes as they had referred other children with TMJ problems there with great results before. I'll be honest, I've always thought of physical therapy as somewhere between "all in your head cures" to "legitimate but probably won't help". I am so thankful I was WRONG. Our next stop after the dentist was to book an appointment at Rock Valley. Fortunately, they were able to see her the same week for an evaluation. We were very fortunate to work with Seth, who is both the clinic manager as well as their TMJ expert. Seth took time to talk to both myself and my 12 year old daughter to get a real understanding of what could be the root cause of her issue and quickly identified some easy changes to help correct the problem. He was friendly but also very professional, has a great "bedside manner", and never left a question unanswered or had us feeling rushed. By the end of the first appointment/evaluation, my daughter was already showing measurable improvement. By the second and third, she was nearly back to normal, and by the 4th appointment she was chomping cheeseburgers with reckless abandon in a way only a person with a kid's metabolism can handle. Seth was fantastic, his staff was also great to work with, and if I ever need physical therapy of any kind, Rock Valley in Grimes will be my first choice.

They listen to me, they take their time and really work towards getting me to my goals. They focus on my PT and don't ignore me while they engage in their own conversations like I've experienced in other PT offices. In addition, they are very kind and friendly in their office; always pleasant and smiling.
