They gave me the wrong prescription, wouldn’t return calls or pick up phone most of the time, and want to charge me to check prescription again when they should have had the previous one from my previous appointment. Also said my last appointment was years ago when I was there less than a few months ago

I had a scheduled eye exam and upon arrival they had me complete some paperwork There was a page specifically about retinal imaging, i read through each section thoroughly and the page had two options; YES i consent to eye exam and additional charges, and NO exam today, but i understand the importance of retinal imaging. After promptly selecting no, i was confused why after my exam the total was alot higher than expected. It should've just been $10 with my eyemed insurance. The front desk lady told me that the retinal imaging was standard part of the exam, thats when i told her that i had read through the paperwork and i remember specifically selecting no to the imaging, and if it was a standard part of the exam why was there a page specifically dedicated to asking. She told me i didnt select no and that retinal imaging was required if my eyes were not dilated. I wasnt gonna sit there and argue all day about what their standard practice is, and i didnt realize they did retinal imaging because i havent had my eyes checked since i was a child, but i felt scammed. After this experience i didnt bother to purchases any glasses. I will not be revisiting this place.

This is my second year coming to Unique. I have seen both doctors and they are both delightful and courteous. I do feel they should work on their front desk personnel. They are not as courteous. My visit was on July 11, 2026 with Dr. Chacko. Upon entering they were not attentive. After checking out the first person was on her phone and did not acknowledge where I should go to her or the other receptionist. Otherwise, the doctors are amazing and are definitely my vision doctors.
Frequently Asked Questions About Unique Family Eyecare
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. What is involved in an eye exam?
An eye exam involves a series of simple but comprehensive tests that allow your optometrist to assess your vision and your eye health. Your optometrist will discuss the results of your eye exam with you and determine the right prescription to help you to see your best.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
