Vaccinations

Routine vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to keep yourself healthy. Our pharmacies provide annual flu vaccines, COVID-19 vaccinations, routine child and adult immunizations, catch-up vaccines and travel vaccines.

This vaccine protects against chickenpox, a disease caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults born in 1980 or later need two doses.

This vaccine protects against coronavirus. Depending on the manufacturer, up to two doses and a booster are currently recommended.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis A, an infection in the liver often spread by contaminated food and caused by hepatitis A virus. Adults traveling outside the country, those with chronic liver disease, and men who have sex with men need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against Hepatitis B, a blood-borne infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus. Adults with chronic health conditions and healthcare workers should get three doses of this vaccine.

This vaccine protects against HPV, the major cause of cervical cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts in both women and men. Adults age 9-26 need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against influenza, a contagious viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. Everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

This vaccine protects against the respiratory disease measles, the infectious disease mumps, and the viral disease rubella. Adults born in 1957 or later need at least one dose.

There are two types of meningococcal vaccines that protect against meningococcal disease, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis infections around the brain and spinal cord. All 11-12 year olds should get a meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a booster dose at 16 years old. People age 16-23 years also may get a serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.

These vaccines protect against pneumococcal disease, caused by bacteria leading to ear and sinus infections as well as more serious lung and blood infections. If you smoke, have heart disease, asthma, chronic lung disease, or are over 65 years old, you need at least one dose.

This vaccine protects against polio, a disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord and cause paralysis. Children are recommended to get one vaccine dose at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

This vaccine protects against shingles, a painful skin rash caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults age 50 and older need two doses.

These vaccines protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis which are contagious bacterial diseases. Adults need one dose of Tdap, then a Td or Tdap booster every 10 years.

Physical & Wellness Screenings

Our pharmacies offer a number of wellness screenings to help detect and prevent certain diseases.

When you come in for a biometric screening, your provider will measure your height, weight and blood pressure. They will also test your blood glucose, and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) using a finger prick to obtain a blood sample. Before leaving you will have your results along with risk reduction counseling to help you achieve your optimum health. **Biometric Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Blood glucose measurement detects the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. High or low blood sugars could indicate a metabolic condition, such as diabetes.

Hemoglobin A1C measures your average blood glucose (sugar) over the past 90 days. An elevated hemoglobin A1C could indicate the presence of diabetes. **Hemoglobin A1C Screenings are available at select pharmacies only.

Cholesterol screening measures the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol screenings can detect conditions such as high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

Amy in the pharmacy on Columbia road in Augusta GA was unprofessional, inappropriate, and just plain rude. I went to pick up my medication and Amy proceeded to tell me her opinion about my medications on my profile and what one would assume about me. I asked her what assumption? She just said the medications would lead one to assume. Again I asked her what assumption. She was so passive aggressive. She never would tell me what assumption. I ask her if she need me to go over my profile and tell her each diagnosis went with each medication. She said that was not necessary because it was clear what the diagnosis was. I asked her to share her assumed diagnosis with me but I can only assume, it is hard to talk with your foot in your mouth. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt that it is easy to make a mistake but the condescending tone she used to tell me my profile would lead one to assume then not tell me what it made one assume she needs to be gone. I hope this review gets her terminated or at least not talking to paying customers.

I have been dealing with this pharmacy since it was first opened I have been a customer of the Kroger since 1983 when it first opened. I have never had any issues at all until today with Amy in the pharmacy. She was extremely rude. I had a prescription called in by my doctor yesterday. No one bothered to call me that it was ready for pick up. I called this afternoon and Amy was rude and obnoxious on the telephone. I went to the store to pick up my prescription. I stood waiting for a10 minutes while Amy socialized with another woman at the counter. They talked about everything under the sun and had a good old time. Instead of excusing herself to take care of a customer, she completely ignored me. When I did catch her attention she told me in a very rude way that I could wait. After her friend left, she never said hello to me or asked how she could help me. I told her I was sorry I interrupted her socializing, but I need to pick up my prescription. She the got real nasty and started to rant about how bad my day was going. I had to ask her four times to just get my prescription that by the way was all ready paid for. She again said I could wait. That is when I threatened to call the manager. That is when Amy stated that she was the manager of the pharmacy! If that rude idiot worked for me, she would have been fired on the spot. I made a complaint to Matt one of the store managers, but he did not seem very interested. I have also made a complaint to the corporate office. Looking at other reviews on Google, it seems that Amy has a reputation for being rude to customers. I also noticed other complaints of rudeness from the pharmacy. I would be will to bet that if the source of the problem (Amy the manger) was fired, the rest of the problems might go away. Hey Kroger, remember you are not the only grocery store and pharmacy in the area!
