I want to give a huge thank-you to my trainer, Devan, for helping me recover and strengthen to be able to become a hang glider pilot.
In May, I started the journey of learning to fly and quickly realized just how physically demanding it would be. Sprinting down a hill for 30 yards with a 55 pound hang glider is incredibly demanding and caused several muscle tears in my legs. I started working with Devan and shared my goals of recovery, strengthening, and preparing my body for the demands of hang gliding.
Over the next eight weeks, Devan helped me not only rebuild and strengthen my body, but also develop a healthy approach to training and fitness that I know will benefit me for the rest of my life.
I’m proud to say that I’m now an H1 Hang Glider Pilot and working toward my H2 rating!
Thank you, Devan, for your guidance, encouragement, and dedication—and for helping me reach a goal I’ve worked hard to achieve!

I absolutely love One Life Fitness in Dawsonville! It’s a great gym, the location is convenient for me, and there’s a really welcoming atmosphere.
My favorite classes are Zumba and BodyPump, and I especially have to give a shoutout to my favorite Zumba instructor, Allyson! She brings so much energy and makes the classes genuinely fun. If you’re on Facebook, check out the Zumba with Allyson group too!
One thing that means a lot to me personally is how adaptable the classes are. I’ve had both hips replaced, and I can easily modify the exercises when I need to. I’m able to get a great workout without feeling like I’m being left behind or pushed beyond what my body can handle.
Whether you’re looking for a traditional gym workout or fun group fitness classes, I highly recommend One Life Fitness Dawsonville. And if you’re considering Zumba, take Allyson’s class. You won’t regret it! 💃💪

Allyson is an outstanding instructor very responsible and fun and energetic. Onelife is a great gym with a lot of classes to choose from, always clean and the personnel are very respectful and very helpful.
I absolutely LOVE these classes! 💪🔥 BodyPump, Core, and Strength Training have become some of my favorites. Katie and Julie are incredible instructors—they're motivating, knowledgeable, and make every workout so much fun!

Overall, I really like OneLife and think it’s a great gym. It’s a good size, the staff is always friendly and accommodating, and there are plenty of workout options.
That said, if you plan on going during peak hours, be prepared for it to be very busy. You’ll likely have to wait for machines or adjust your workout because many of the popular machines are almost always occupied. They have a good variety of equipment, but I don’t think there’s enough of the most frequently used machines for the number of members they have.
If you’re into cardio, you’ll have no problem finding a machine since there are plenty available. The free weight area is usually packed, although it’s nice that they also have additional free weights upstairs. They also offer a wide variety of group fitness classes, including spin and yoga, which is a great bonus.
Amenities are nice as well, though I do wish there were more recovery options. There’s only one red light therapy room and three HydroMassage beds, so those can be difficult to use during busy times.
Overall, it’s a solid gym with great staff, a good selection of equipment, and lots of class offerings. My biggest complaint is simply how crowded it gets and the lack of enough popular machines to keep up with the membership.
