I attended my first class at this location in June and, within approximately eight minutes of entering the studio, my purse and belongings were stolen from inside the studio while I was in class.
I actually ended up leaving the class early after realizing I had mistakenly signed up for a class that wasn't appropriate for a first-time attendee. Unfortunately, instead of reassurance or encouragement from the instructor, I was met with, "This is gonna be hard for you sis, not gonna lie." Between that interaction and discovering immediately afterward that my belongings had been stolen, my first experience at this location was awful.
Police were called and an investigation was opened. My losses and replacement expenses ultimately totaled approximately $3,800.
I spent the following weeks replacing my phone, keys, id, and other belongings and documenting my losses. I attempted to resolve the matter privately with the studio and subsequently with HR, providing an itemized list and supporting documentation. After approximately two months of communication, Club Pilates ultimately declined to provide any reimbursement and directed me to pursue the loss through my personal insurance.
The studio has since informed me that additional security measures have been implemented, including additional camera coverage, lockers, and a new security service. I appreciate those changes for current members, but unfortunately, they came after this incident.
At the time of my incident, the studio door was unlocked and propped open, allowing people to enter the studio without being stopped. There were no cameras directed at the area where members' belongings were stored, and my belongings were stolen from an area of the studio that should have been accessible only to members and staff.
All in all, this was a terrible experience. I gave the studio and Club Pilates the opportunity to address my losses privately before posting a public review, but after approximately two months, they have declined to reimburse me. I'm sharing my experience so prospective members can make their own informed decision.
