Introducing IR Centers of Georgia Urology Offering Prostatic Artery Embolization. Prostatic artery embolization (PAE) is a minimally invasive treatment that helps improve lower urinary tract symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). A tiny catheter is threaded to the prostatic arteries from one small incision in the groin or wrist. The prostatic arteries are plugged with tiny microspheres, depriving the prostate of part of its blood supply, thus reducing its size. The procedure is performed in our outpatient center with twilight sedation. Patients leave on the same day and experience relief over the next few weeks.
