I have purchased items at countless stores and have never encountered a policy where basic service is held hostage for an email address. Because of this hostile customer service and invasive policy, you have lost a customer. I expect a clarification on whether your corporate policy actually mandates data collection for basic purchases, or if this was a case of an employee weaponizing a loyalty program metric.
