Our experience with Comfort Keepers was extremely disappointing.
My wheelchair-bound husband relied on their caregivers for daily assistance. While some individual caregivers were excellent, the overall service was unreliable. Our weekday caregiver called out frequently, resulting in multiple substitute caregivers every month. Many of these substitutes had never been to our home before, and some told us my husband was their first client assignment.
We have two medium/ large dogs and two small ones, and have always maintained safeguards for caregivers, including a gated room for the dogs and instructions to keep certain doors closed when the dogs are in the house. Two substitute caregivers later claimed they had been bitten by a dog. However, neither followed the established safety procedures, neither was willing to show me the alleged injury, and both stated they did not need any medical attention. One caregiver continued discussing the incident with other caregivers, spreading inaccurate information about our household.
The larger issue was the company's lack of communication and staffing reliability. There were many occasions when substitute coverage could not be found promptly, sometimes leaving my husband waiting until midday to receive assistance getting out of bed. We also observed caregivers making personal phone calls or FaceTime calls throughout their shifts.
What ultimately ended our relationship with Comfort Keepers was the way our case was handled. We later learned that our services had been discontinued, yet no one informed us. After several days without caregivers, my husband had to make multiple calls to find out what was happening. Even then, we were not given a clear explanation, only that our care had been terminated.
When caring for disabled clients who depend on daily assistance, reliability, professionalism, proper training, and communication are essential. Unfortunately, our experience fell short in all of those areas. We cannot recommend this company based on our experience.
Since our dogs have been described as vicious, I am including their photos.
