With LipiFlow, you’ll no longer need to worry about constantly carrying eye drops everywhere you go. Restoring your eyes’ lipid production to a natural state will not only prevent discomfort, it also cuts back on the hassle of preparing for potential eye pain each day. Is LipiFlow® right for you? Most people (over 80%) who suffer from chronic dry eye have meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). This is a common eye condition and form of evaporative dry eye in which patients have obstructed meibomian glands. When working properly, these glands produce an oil (meibum) that mixes with tears. Tears without this oil are prone to evaporating quickly, thus causing the eyes to dry out. For decades, eye doctors had no practical solution for unblocking clogged meibomian glands. Thankfully, that has all changed with LipiFlow. Our doctors can use an Ocular Surface Interferometer to evaluate your lipids and diagnose MGD. To find out if you have MGD and whether LipiFlow can relieve your dry eyes, please schedule a consultation. Schedule A Consultation Frequently Asked Questions Symptoms of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction Dry eyes Red eyes Burning or itchy sensation Light sensitivity Occasional blurry vision What Causes Dry Eye? What is Glaucoma? Glaucoma is a common eye disease that leads to vision loss and blindness. The condition causes damage to your optic nerve due to abnormally high eye pressure. This occurs when the eye’s drainage system is not functioning properly. The eye’s fluid (aqueous humor) drains through an angle between the iris and cornea. When this angle is open but the eye’s fluid does not drain correctly, it’s called open-angle glaucoma. Closed-angle glaucoma occurs when the angle is blocked, which rapidly increases eye pressure and constitutes a medical emergency. Open-angle glaucoma is a gradual eye disease, and many people have no idea they have the condition until their side vision is damaged. This form of glaucoma is typically caught early through comprehensive eye exams at TRES VISION Group. There are various treatments designed to slow glaucoma progression, but once vision is affected, no medication or surgery can restore your eyesight. What is a stent? The stent trabecular micro-bypass is FDA-approved to treat open-angle glaucoma. The minimally invasive device is implanted in the eye to increase aqueous humor outflow and lower eye pressure. The stent is a tiny titanium device placed during cataract surgery through the trabecular meshwork and Schlemm’s canal. The trabecular meshwork is a spongy tissue and one of the main structures involved in the drainage angle. This tissue is where the fluid faces the greatest resistance, increasing eye pressure if the outflow is slow or inadequate. Schlemm’s canal is a circular system that collects the eye’s fluid flowing from the trabecular meshwork and directs it into the veins of your eye. The stent improves fluid drainage and lowers your eye pressure to normal limits by restoring a functional angle. It can eliminate the need for standard treatments such as eye drops. The stent is placed during cataract surgery to relieve Intraocular Pressure (IOP). Essentially it is a small tube used to allow fluids to pass. If you’re the right candidate for the stent you’ll experience a reduce dependency on glaucoma medication and corrective lenses. Benefits for Glaucoma Treat your open-angle glaucoma in a way that will make you forget it ever existed. Patients will not see or feel the device once placed in their eye. You can have an stent placed during your cataract surgery. It only makes sense to take care of your glaucoma and face one less eye concern. Reduced Need For Daily Eye Drops You will spend the rest of your life putting one, two or even three different kinds of drops in every day. Unfortunately, all of these drops will not only be inconvenient but potentially very expensive. By having an stent placed the pressure in your eyes will be controlled, eliminating the need for multiple eye drop applications. Fewer Risks than Traditional Glaucoma Management You won’t need to depend on glasses or glaucoma medication after placement of the stent as it controls the IOP of the eye. Unlike other glaucoma management solutions, the stent results in fewer problems for you following the procedure. AVOID THE HASSLE OF WEARING GLASSES Reduced Dependency on Glasses A stent will allow you to see more clearly and escape the aggravation that comes with wearing glasses. The stent controls your glaucoma by creating a drainage passway and reducing pressure in the eye. You will likely be able to see without glasses, or with a lowered dependency on glasses, following the placement of the stent. SAFER GLAUCOMA TREATMENT ALTERNATIVE What Is SLT? Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a procedure designed to treat those with glaucoma. It is a simple and effective treatment that decreases intraocular pressure (IOP). The treatment is performed as an outpatient procedure and can take as little as five minutes to complete. SLT works by focusing laser energy on the drainage tissue, which is also known as the trabecular meshwork. It is located at the front of the eye and is the natural fluid drain location. This effectively lowers eye pressure and helps improve the health of the eye. Treatment with SLT laser is intended to save your sight from the harmful effects of glaucoma. Is Glaucoma Treatment with SLT Safe? SLT has been used since 1995 to improve eye health. With a high success rate and few long-term side effects, this treatment is not only effective and quick, but also safe. While some patients may be hesitant to move forward with treatment due to concerns about pain, there is little need to worry — this procedure is generally regarded as a pain-free experience. There are no injections or needles used during your treatment. Discomfort is minimized with the use of eye drops before treatments begin. You may be treated with special eye drops following your procedure to manage any inflammation.

LipiFlow is a groundbreaking treatment designed to tackle meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), which is the root cause of most cases of dry eye. MGD affects the glands responsible for producing the oil layer of the tear film, which is crucial for preventing rapid tear evaporation. By addressing this underlying issue, LipiFlow offers not just temporary relief but a long-term solution to improve overall eye health. LipiFlow Benefits for Patients The primary advantage of LipiFlow is its effectiveness in unblocking the meibomian glands, thus restoring normal gland function and improving the quality of the tear film. Patients typically experience significant relief from dry eye symptoms, including irritation and discomfort. The treatment enhances the natural tear production process, leading to more stable and clearer vision. LipiFLow Melbourne FL Ideal Candidates for LipiFlow LipiFlow is particularly beneficial for patients who have persistent symptoms of dry eye that have not responded well to conventional treatments such as over-the-counter eye drops or warm compresses. Those diagnosed with meibomian gland dysfunction or those who experience frequent discomfort due to dry eyes are ideal candidates for this treatment. LipiFlow Procedure Overview The LipiFlow treatment is a quick and non-invasive procedure that takes approximately 12 minutes. During the session, a device placed on the eyelids gently heats and applies pressure, facilitating the release of oils from the blocked meibomian glands. The process is pain-free, with most patients experiencing only a mild sensation of warmth and pressure. LipiFlow utilizes state-of-the-art technology that combines controlled heat with therapeutic pressure, specifically targeting the meibomian glands. This method is highly effective in melting and expressing the hardened oils blocking these glands, thereby directly addressing the physical cause of chronic dry eye. Dry Eye Treatment With LipiFlow Melbourne FL Long-Term Effects and Monitoring The effects of LipiFlow are long-lasting, with many patients reporting sustained relief from dry eye symptoms for up to two years. The longevity of the treatment benefits can vary, and some patients may require repeat sessions. Regular follow-up appointments are recommended to monitor the health of the meibomian glands and to assess the need for further treatment. How Does LipiFlow Compare to Other Dry Eye Treatments? While conventional dry eye treatments such as artificial tears or prescription medications provide symptomatic relief, LipiFlow offers a more definitive solution by restoring gland functionality. Unlike warm compresses that offer temporary relief, LipiFlow’s effects are more durable and targeted. This treatment stands out as a preferred option for those seeking a significant, long-term improvement in dry eye symptoms. LipiFlow Safety LipiFlow is not only effective but also safe. Clinical studies and trials have demonstrated its high safety profile, with minimal risks associated with the procedure. It is an FDA-approved treatment, meaning it is a well-studied and reliable therapy option for managing dry eye. Macular degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss and is currently an eye disease with no known cure. It causes deterioration of the retina and effects vision. It is important to begin management of macular degeneration if you are at-risk or are showing early signs of the disease. Macular Degeneration Symptoms If you have macular degeneration, you may see signs of the following: Blurry Vision Colors Appear Faded Blind Spots in Field of Vision Light Sensitivity Straight lines appear wavy or crooked Squinting Objects look smaller AMD does not cause pain, so do not wait for discomfort before seeing a doctor. Eyes affected by AMD look no different than healthy eyes, so do not attempt to self-diagnose by looking in the mirror. Diagnosis/ Testing of Macular Degeneration Our first-in-class technology suite provides better detection & better outcomes for your vision health. Humphrey Field Analyzer II Visual field testing is used to determine glaucoma severity, progression, and visual function impairment. The Humphrey Field Analyzer is an industry-recognized standard for visual field testing. It is used to detect and manage glaucoma at all stages. Various testing protocol are used for screening and monitoring early to advanced glaucoma. SITA SWAP, an additional test run using the Humphrey Field Analyzer, is used specifically to detect glaucoma in its earliest stages. This helps you get the treatment you need quickly and efficiently. Our visual field testing completed using a Humphrey Field Analyzer is a painless diagnostic test that requires you to press a button each time a light appears on a dome. The accuracy or inaccuracy from the test helps us identify any weaknesses in your vision that may indicate glaucoma. Why We Use the Humphrey Field Analyzer II Precision – This diagnostic tool is proven to provide accurate, reliable results. Early Detection – Identify vision loss due to glaucoma earlier than other technology. Speed – Complete in under two minutes. Accessible – Can be used by patients in wheelchairs or with visual and hearing impairments. Focal vs. Diffuse Vision Loss Recognition – Allows for better treatment plans. Comparison and Baseline Measurements for Diagnostics – Pulls data from age-matched populations to improve accuracy. Doctors have identified two distinct types of AMD: dry and wet. Types of Macular Degeneration Dry AMD is the more common form of AMD. It is characterized by slower changes to the macula. Specifically, proteins accumulate underneath the macula, which can gradually impair your central vision. Wet AMD is characterized by a much more rapid loss in vision. In these cases, abnormal blood vessels develop beneath the retina. These blood vessels leak fluids, which then distorts vision. Prompt treatment is essential with wet AMD to prevent irreversible vision loss. Diagnosing the specific type of AMD is an important part in knowing how to best treat this condition. Treatment Options Take back control of your vision health with the most modern macular degeneration treatments available today. Many of our patients with wet AMD can significantly slow their vision loss with injectable medication. Our doctors offer Avastin, Eyelea and Beovu. While none of these are injections are a cure, they can all block vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a protein that generates new blood vessels. By preventing new faulty blood vessels, this limits leakage that can further impair vision. These injections are made directly into the eye, and typically are repeated every month to few months for maximum effectiveness. Retinal injections have been used as a common treatment approach also for both wet and dry age-related macular degeneration. TRES VISION Group also offers EyePromise vitamins, which are specially formulated with nutritional supplements to benefit aging eyes and slow the progression of dry AMD. Specific vitamins that the American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends after a dry AMD diagnosis include zeaxanthin, lutein, vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc and copper.

Intravitreal injections are a highly effective treatment for vision-threatening eye conditions, including wet macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. These injections deliver medication directly into the vitreous humor, the gel-like substance inside the eye, allowing for precise and targeted treatment. By slowing disease progression, intravitreal injections help preserve vision and improve long-term eye health. Our talented eye doctors at TRES VISION Group are pleased to offer these vision-saving treatments. Conditions Treated with Intravitreal Injections Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD): A condition that causes abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina, leading to vision loss. Diabetic Retinopathy: A complication of diabetes where damaged blood vessels leak fluid into the retina, impairing vision. Diabetic Macular Edema (DME): Swelling of the macula due to leaking blood vessels, which can blur vision and cause blindness if untreated. Benefits of Intravitreal Injections – Slows disease progression: Helps prevent further vision loss by controlling abnormal blood vessel growth and reducing fluid leakage. – Targets the source directly: Delivers medication precisely where needed, increasing effectiveness. – Minimally invasive: A quick, in-office procedure with no need for surgery. – Proven success: Most patients experience improved vision or stabilization of their condition. Types of Intravitreal Injections Several medications are available to treat wet AMD and diabetic eye conditions, including: – Anti-VEGF injections (vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors): Such as Lucentis, Eylea, and Avastin, which reduce abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage. – Steroid injections: Used primarily for diabetic macular edema, reducing inflammation and swelling in the retina. – Other emerging treatments: Research continues to advance, bringing new options for retinal disease management. What to Expect During the Procedure Intravitreal injections are performed in a sterile office environment and take only a few minutes: – Eye numbing: Anesthetic drops ensure a pain-free experience. – Eye cleansing: The eye is cleaned with antiseptic to reduce infection risk. – Injection: A fine needle delivers the medication into the vitreous humor. – Post-procedure check: Patients are monitored briefly before leaving. Intravitreal Injections Recovery and Aftercare You can typically do normal activities immediately after your procedure. Mild irritation, redness, or temporary blurriness may occur, but these symptoms usually resolve within a day. You should follow these aftercare steps: – Avoid rubbing your eye for at least 24 hours. – Use prescribed antibiotic eye drops if provided. – Monitor for any unusual symptoms such as persistent pain, increased redness, or vision changes, which should be reported immediately. Cost and Insurance Coverage The cost of intravitreal injections varies based on the medication used and insurance coverage. Many plans, including Medicare, provide coverage for these injections when deemed medically necessary. Our team at TRES VISION Group can help navigate insurance details and discuss financing options if needed. Keratoconus is caused when the cornea begins to develop into a cone-shape. This eye disease is progressive and has no cure. However, there are treatments in place to help manage the disease, including surgeries and cross-linking therapies. Eye Health Assessment This assessment uses an ophthalmoscope to examine different parts of your eye. This is a handheld piece of equipment that the doctor will use to examine your eyes with a light adjusted to the right aperture and filter necessary to see to the back of your eye. Why We Use This Method: This tool allows the doctor to evaluate your pupil responses, optic nerve, retina, cornea, and lens. We use this tool to look for signs of eye diseases or retinal vascular diseases. Improved Vision: NO CONTACTS OR GLASSES REQUIRED If you suffer from keratoconus and no longer benefit from contacts or glasses you may be a good candidate. The design of the stabilizing device was created to help fight the effects of keratoconus from the inside-out by working to flatten the cornea. While it won’t cure keratoconus, placement can prevent the need to have a cornea transplant in the future. Comfortable Recovery Process The procedure to implant is minimally-invasive, resulting in less trauma to the cornea and surgery site. This aids in a quicker recovery and smaller chance of astigmatism developing. Distortions and scarring will be minimized as well. With the procedure, you with experience an easy recovery process without effect on your daily comfort. Can Be Exchanged if Vision Changes You certainly won’t need to worry about it falling out. Nor will you need to worry about permanence due to removal of tissue. Because they are additive, they can be removed in the future should the need arise. If you find your prescription changing dramatically you can even exchange the them for a new pair that match your new vision needs. IMPROVED VISION WILL BE THE ONLY INDICATOR IT’S THERE Once administered, you will not feel them in your eyes. Plus they are no more visible than contact lenses. The comfort and subtlety of this treatment option make them attractive to those suffering from keratoconus. An added bonus is the eliminated maintenance. See clearer without the hassle of upkeep. Permanent Results Corneal cross-linking isn’t a procedure you’ll need to have performed consistently over the period of your life, it’s a one-time treatment. This out-patient treatment will be over in roughly an hour and then you’ll be on your way to enjoying your heightened vision. TYPICALLY COMPLETE IN 1 HOUR Simple Out-Patient Procedure The procedure is non-invasive and lasts for 60 to 90 minutes in length. This simple out-patient procedure only requires that you have a ride home as you won’t be allowed to drive yourself. The recovery time following cross-linking may vary from individual to individual. But generally, it takes a week to recover. Laser-Assisted CORNEAL TRANSPLANTATION PROCEDURE Intralase Enabled Keratoplasty (IEK) is a laser assisted surgery for corneal transplantation. The use of the laser increases the precision of the procedure resulting in more favorable outcomes. Prevent Keratoconus Progression/ Corneal Transplants By strengthening the links between the cornea and collagen fibers you can prevent the progression of keratoconus. This is a non-invasive way to handle keratoconus compared to common alternatives like corneal transplants. Improved Visual Outcome with Less Astigmatism With the IEK surgery, ophthalmologists are able to increase visual outcomes that result in less surgery-induced astigmatism. This results in better vision for you now with fewer complications down the road. Intralase Enabled Keratoplasty – Corneal Transplant Surgery Corneal transplant surgery treats diseases that originate in the cornea by transplanting a cornea from a donor to you. This method of treating keratoconous is shown to be a safe, beneficial alternative to other methods. You can expect a faster recovery time and improved vision after surgery. Fast Healing Time Within two to three months after surgery, you will be able to see with limited functionality without the use of glasses or contacts. Their vision will strengthen over the following months, achieving 20/40 or better after six to seven months. This is a huge improvement from the alternative surgery which requires a twelve to eighteen month recovery period. Safe and Effective IEK will result in less astigmatism caused by the surgery and will result in quicker recovery time. This effective and safe procedure has a rare chance of transplant failure and transplants are checked intensively for suitability to your eye.
