  I would strongly caution families against trusting Home Instead of Jacksonville with the care of a loved one. We had a very positive initial meeting with Shayne and were clear about our three non-negotiable needs: a Care Pro who would actively engage with my mom and initiate activities, consistency in scheduling rather than a different person each time, and experience working with Alzheimer’s patients. We were assured those needs could be met. Unfortunately, our actual experience was the opposite. The first Care Pro sat on the couch and did not engage with my mom for three hours. The second person who arrived was not even the type of Care Pro we had requested and spent the time complaining about how much Home Instead had declined since partnering with Honor. The third Care Pro was excellent, but then failed to show up for the next scheduled visit without any call or notice. After these issues, I called and asked to speak with an owner or director. I did have a kind conversation with someone who seemed genuinely concerned and promised a follow-up call. That call never came. To make matters worse, Home Instead is now demanding payment for the second visit, even though we sent that person home after only a few minutes because they were not appropriate for our needs. When we tried to explain the situation to the billing department, they hung up on us. In our experience, many of the problems appear connected to Honor, the company handling scheduling and back-office operations for Home Instead. Regardless of who is responsible behind the scenes, families are relying on Home Instead to provide dependable, compassionate, qualified care — and that is not what we received. When you are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s, reliability, communication, consistency, and trust are everything. Based on our experience, Home Instead of Jacksonville failed in each of those areas. I would not recommend this company.

  What an excellent company to work with. From the very first contact they have expressed care and offered support. We needed some day to day assistance for our aging parents. The care has been great. The responsiveness when we’ve had questions has been quick and efficient. So glad we found this service! Highly recommend!
