Unfortunately but to be expected from Vida my experience has been horrible. The comments regarding better facility management at planet fitness is completely true. Vida really has just tried to turn into a corporate machine but has no benefit of being corporate because at least largest corporations can get problems quickly promptly.
Where do I begin, I haven’t been to this location in probably 6 months so when I came back I was under the assumption the steam room would be up and working. This was wrong however maybe their excuse is the gym floor is like a sauna feeling like it’s 80 degrees in the gym floor. The staff are unfriendly and truly just a joke of an experience for 200 dollars a month. Take you money to equinox if you want luxury and planet fitness if you want an appropriate price to quality ratio

Edit for those seeing the message below: I got a follow up from Corporate that just straightforwardly confirmed they will not be giving any flexibility. That's fine, I stand by this review. It is unsurprising that this company was the one that decided to put cameras in the locker rooms to "deter theft". It's sort of generally emblematic of how they approach their "Vida community".
I was a member for 4 years and generally gave Vida the benefit of the doubt through a lot of issues at this location: the HVAC problems, the steam room constantly being out of service, broken equipment that would take weeks to repair, and the decline in cleanliness that many other reviewers have mentioned.
What finally pushed me to bother leaving a review was management's handling of my cancellation. I submitted it the morning after the deadline instead of the night before because I assumed my membership was through May 13th. I was charged for another month. Despite being a loyal member for years, there was zero flexibility and zero consideration given to the fact that I had been paying dues for four years.
They were perfectly within their rights to enforce the policy. But after years of sticking with the gym through ongoing facility issues, I expected a little common sense and goodwill. Instead, I got a rigid policy response.
After four years as a member and not complaining once through all their various problems, the extra month apparently mattered more than the customer relationship.
The extra money isn't the end of the world to me, but apparently it is to Vida. So just keep in mind that if you think you're buying into a luxury gym and community, you really aren't. You're buying into a poorly maintained corporate location that really doesn't stand out anymore.

I would not recommend VIDA Fitness City Vista, and after my experience, I will be taking my membership elsewhere.
The biggest issue is the culture. Many of the staff, particularly at the front desk and smoothie bar, come across as dismissive, arrogant, and uninterested in providing good customer service. Interactions often feel like you’re inconveniencing them by asking basic questions or requesting assistance. Rather than making members feel welcome, there is a palpable sense of entitlement and superiority that creates an unpleasant atmosphere.
For a premium-priced gym, the customer experience falls far below expectations. Staff frequently seem more interested in projecting an image than actually helping members. A fitness club should be focused on service, professionalism, and community. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here.
The facility itself has also been a recurring source of frustration. Members are paying for amenities that are often unavailable or unreliable. The steam room is frequently out of service, temperature control throughout the facility is inconsistent, and basic operational issues seem to persist without meaningful resolution. Across VIDA locations, I’ve also experienced repeated elevator outages, which raises serious accessibility concerns for members who rely on them.
When you charge premium membership fees, members reasonably expect premium service and functioning amenities. Instead, I’ve encountered poor customer service, unreliable facilities, and a general lack of accountability.
There are far better options in the area that provide a more welcoming environment and better value for the money. I regret choosing VIDA and would encourage prospective members to consider other gyms before committing to a membership here.
