- GYGabrielle youngAug 12, 20261.0I’m new to the area and was excited to try this studio’s free trial week to get back into yoga. Unfortunately, my second visit left a bad taste. I got caught in traffic straight from work and walked in one minute past the start of class. I knew I might be turned away or charged a fee, and I was prepared for that. What I wasn’t prepared for was the front desk greeting me by confirming my name and then telling me, in a clipped, impatient tone, that I needed to “hustle” since class had already started. I’d rushed straight from work, was out of breath, and was already running on empty from a long week — which is exactly why I was there. I work in customer service myself (I care for Alzheimer’s patients daily), so I understand schedules and boundaries need to be enforced. But the way it was communicated felt sharp and unkind, which was jarring for a space that markets itself around meeting people with warmth and compassion. I left in tears, which isn’t the outcome I expected from a yoga studio. I’d encourage the front desk to consider how tone lands on people who are already stretched thin — a little grace goes a long way, especially with someone brand new to the space.
