Outpatient Programs
Structured, non-residential treatment at our Lakewood, CO outpatient center.
Our highest level of outpatient care at the Lakewood center: roughly 30 hours of programming across five days each week. Clients receive near-daily clinical treatment while returning home or to structured housing in the evening.
A step down from PHP at our Lakewood center, running roughly 9 to 12 hours a week across three to four days. IOP gives clients room to hold a job, attend school, or manage family responsibilities while staying in active treatment.
The same clinical programming and time commitment as our in-person IOP, delivered remotely for clients across Colorado who cannot travel to Lakewood. A practical option for those with accessibility needs, transportation barriers, or work and caregiving commitments.
Community-based PHP and IOP in Lakewood for clients who live at home or in outside sober living rather than our housing. Groups run alongside our housing-based clients, so everyone receives the same clinical programming.
If you need detox before starting outpatient treatment, our Lakewood admissions team can arrange it. Medical detox is delivered at our Morrison, CO campus, then clients step down into PHP or IOP here in Lakewood without changing providers.
Mental Health Treatment
Mental health programming for clients with primary or co-occurring conditions.
A dedicated intensive outpatient track in Lakewood for adults whose primary presenting concern is mental health rather than substance use. Programming combines group therapy, individual sessions, and medication management.
Integrated outpatient care for clients managing substance use alongside a mental health condition. One clinical team treats both, which avoids the gaps that appear when the two are handled by separate providers.
Outpatient treatment for depression, including cases where depressive symptoms and substance use reinforce each other. Care combines individual therapy, clinical groups, and psychiatric medication management when indicated.
Trauma-focused outpatient treatment for adults with PTSD, including clients whose trauma history is tied to their substance use. Our clinicians use trauma-informed approaches suited to processing symptoms without destabilizing recovery.
Recovery Housing
Structured sober living paired with our Lakewood outpatient programs.
Structured recovery housing for clients in our PHP and IOP programs, with gender-specific townhomes near the Lakewood center. Ascent pairs clinical treatment with a sober living environment, which is a meaningful factor in long-term outcomes.
Gender-specific recovery residences where clients find a sponsor, engage in 12-Step work, obtain employment, and build life skills while continuing outpatient treatment. Referrals are accepted directly from other treatment centers.
Therapy & Clinical Services
Evidence-based clinical care delivered at the Lakewood center.
One-on-one sessions with a primary therapist dually licensed in substance use counseling and mental health. Clients keep the same clinician across levels of care, so progress carries forward as they step down.
Facilitated clinical groups that form the core of our PHP and IOP programming in Lakewood. Groups cover relapse prevention, emotional regulation, relationships, and the practical work of building a life in recovery.
Sessions that bring family members into outpatient treatment, addressing communication, boundaries, and the effects of addiction on the household. Family involvement tends to matter most for clients living at home during care.
Trauma-informed therapy for clients whose substance use or mental health symptoms are connected to past trauma. Clinicians account for each client's history before building an outpatient treatment plan.
CBT helps clients recognize the thought patterns driving substance use or depressive and anxious symptoms, then build workable alternatives. It runs throughout our outpatient clinical programming.
DBT builds distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal skills. It is well suited to outpatient clients navigating intense emotions while managing work, school, and family alongside treatment.
Psychiatric evaluation and ongoing medication management for outpatient clients, coordinated with the therapy team so medication and clinical decisions stay aligned throughout PHP, IOP, and step-down care.
FDA-approved medications paired with counseling to reduce cravings and support stability in outpatient recovery from opioid and alcohol use disorders, managed and monitored by our medical team.
The full range of clinical therapies available to outpatient clients at our Lakewood center, including individual, group, and family work delivered by clinicians dually licensed in substance use and mental health.
Included Offerings
Programming included with outpatient care at no additional cost.
Our 12-Step programming connects outpatient clients into the wider Denver-area recovery community, building a support network that stays in place after formal treatment ends.
Practical skill building around employment, finances, personal care, and community reintegration, applied in real time by clients who are living at home or in sober living while attending treatment.
Continued connection after treatment through alumni groups, events, and peer support, keeping clients tied to the Red Rock community once outpatient programming ends.
Our mobile app keeps alumni connected to the Red Rock community after outpatient treatment ends, with access to meetings, peer support, and recovery resources between sessions and beyond discharge.

Red Rock Recovery Center changed my life. I was admitted into their rehab facility in Morrison in May of 2025. The team there guided, supported and encouraged me in every way I could hope for. Through their programs I pursued thereafter in Lakewood, I was able to navigate a path forward into a life of sobriety I never thought was possible. I am truly grateful for this program and especially for the community of people that helped me when I needed it most and continue to be a part of my recovery. Please reach out if you are struggling, asking for help is the first step.

I rarely write reviews, but I feel obligated in this case 'cause RRC saved my life. I've, unfortunately, been to a number of inpatient rehabs. Of all the places I've been my experience at RRRC was the best. Red Rock's care is superior for a number of reasons. I'm writing this six months after leaving (still sober) so i'll try to mention as many as I can remember. 1) The nursing staff was amazing. So caring. They bend over backwards to get you as comfortable as you can be while still leading you through a successful detox. Extremely patient. Never felt like a number. They looked me in the eye, listened and helped me. 2) The food. Before arriving my diet wasn't great. The chef prepares home cooked meals. It's not cafeteria food. You can tell the chef really cares and takes pride in what they're serving you. Nutrition is extremely important, so to kickstart your reintegration into eating right is huge when first getting sober. This was a godsend. I was grateful for each and every meal. And not only that...the community kitchen is open all day, so you can grab snacks, drinks, make protien shakes etc. 3) The curriculum/therapy. RRRC meets you where you're at. While they certainly promote 12 step programs...they DO NOT proselytize nor present them as the ONLY way by any means. Which is huge. There are a million ways to get and stay sober. RRRC recognizes this and teaches you the things you need to know to help you get and stay that way without falsely preaching that there's only one way to do it. 4) They listen to everyone, but don't put up with silliness. There are a lot of personalities that walk into rehab. Often colorful, always interesting. People conflict in regular everyday life. Rehab...can be a powder keg. The way RRRC dealt with problems, I felt like everyone was listened to and that they always did what was best for the community as a whole. 5) The surroundings. You're in the mountains. Awesome. 6) Facilities. Great gym. Was always comfortable in my room etc. 7) JUST ENOUGH PHONE TIME. Trust me. Not having your phone for certain parts of the day is AMAZING. You start to kinda dread the times you get to have your phone. Sort of. I could go on and on. But i was just impressed by this place. I still talk to 5 people from the crew that was present when i was there and we're all still sober. That's unheard of. But, remember, it's up to you. The only piece of advice I'd give to anyone is to be mindful of the culture you and other patients are cultivating. In close quarter, small group scenarios like rehab ONE person's vibe can change everything. So be the positive tuning fork and you'll be surprised at how good the experience can and will be. Good luck. Getting sober is rough. Until it doesn't. So hang in there (and remember to *lean on* and trust the nursing staff. Oh...and as nice as the nurses are, if you're a jerk...they're a force to be reckoned with. I saw a couple of dudes pop off for no good reason and it didn't end well. Don't mistake their sweetness for weakness hahaha.)

I had a mixed experience at this facility. While I cannot give it a five-star review, I also do not believe it deserves a one-star review because I appreciate that the leadership ultimately took my concerns seriously. Before being admitted, I explained several times that I did not believe an addiction treatment center was the right fit for my needs. I expressed that I was primarily seeking mental health and trauma-focused treatment rather than addiction treatment. I wish my concerns had been listened to more carefully, or that I had at least been referred to a facility better suited to my situation. Instead, I felt encouraged to enter the program despite repeatedly expressing my reservations, and unfortunately, it did not turn out to be the right level of care for me.
I also felt limited from participating in several activities because of my visual impairment and autism. While staff explained these decisions were made for my safety, I repeatedly stated that I was comfortable participating, especially with appropriate support or supervision. Those activities would have been beneficial not only for my recovery but also for managing conditions such as autism and ADHD, where regular movement and physical activity are important. Throughout my stay, I tried to speak privately with staff on multiple occasions to explain that I believed a mental health or trauma recovery program would better meet my needs. Unfortunately, I did not feel that my concerns were fully heard or that alternative treatment options were discussed with me. Because of this, I ultimately decided to leave against medical advice. That said, I do want to recognize the facility's leadership. After I shared my concerns, the CEO and co-founder took the time to listen, addressed the issues that mattered most to me, and treated my feedback respectfully. I genuinely appreciate their willingness to hear me out and work toward improving the situation. Overall, I believe there are areas where this facility can improve, particularly in listening to patients' concerns, ensuring they are placed in the most appropriate level of care, and making reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. I hope my experience helps contribute to those improvements.
