I had an appointment at Crossroads Dental on December 2, 2025. Prior to my visit, I called the practice specifically to ask if they were in-network with my insurance. Their representative explicitly confirmed that they were. On the day of my visit, the office stated there was no balance due and that I was good to go.
Six months later, on June 2nd, I received a call asking if I still wanted to keep my next appointment since I am "out-of-network." They then casually mentioned that I had an outstanding balance of nearly $250 from my December visit. I had received zero communication or billing statements from the practice in the six months following my appointment.
When I contacted the practice to dispute this, they mailed me a letter containing my full account history to show their billing timeline. The letter states they generated a statement on January 6th, which notes it was an "in-person statement" even though I was not at the office in January and never received it. I explained that the only reason I went to their practice was because their representative specifically told me they were in-network. If they had communicated any uncertainty, I would not have gone. They stated that it is ultimately the patient who has a contract with the insurance, and while they did their best, it is not their fault they provided incorrect information prior to my visit.
I contacted this practice specifically to ensure they were in my network, and they assured me they were. Now, they expect me to figure out a $247 dental bill that I specifically contacted them prior to avoid.
I would recommend going to a practice that stands by the information they give you and won’t leave you on the hook based on the incorrect information they gave you.
